ZLauncher is just one launcher that supports background and is the one I use. I mention it by name as it is the one I am most familiar with in using backgrounds.

YiShow is another:

MegaLauncher is yet another:

Is where you can find backgrounds and if you look in here: http://www.cliesource.com/sdownload/index.php?op=showfiles&catid=29&sortby=date&sortorder=DESC

you can use most of them too for backgrounds.

Looks like Yishow has the most backgrounds to choose from. Is that the best one to use for backgrounds?

Yea, it does look that way. I know of no free program that will do it for you. Sorry:(

Those YiShow backgrounds can be used with the other Launchers as well. They just started putting them there and I think it was difficult to move them somewhere else. You can make your own with any picture you like though for any of those 3 launchers.

I won't even go there. The reason why is that this is a highly discussed issue and it simply comes down to personal preference. You can give them all a try because they give you a trial period so that is what I suggest. Those 3 I gave you have to be the top 3 launchers available. I personally went from MegaLauncher to ZLauncher recently as they are more responsive and update their software more frequently. That said, it still comes down to the overall look and functionality preferences of the you the user:)

Ah ok, so I guess I'll take advantage of the trial and try one at a time.

Other programs that allow for backgrounds:
Agendus:http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=EE29A38E-6168-4AC0-80826C26F483A1B5&prodID=3435

Wassup:http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=EE29A38E-6168-4AC0-80826C26F483A1B5&prodID=42044

Mind you the 3 I gave you previously are Launchers or like your PC's main screen, these others are applications that support backgrounds as well.

The backgrounds are easiest to deal with if you keep them in .JPG format and store them on the MS. In ZLauncher they go in the directory /PALM/Programs/ZLauncher/BackImage. In YiShow, I believe it goes in /PALM/Programs/YiShow/Wallpaper (I think). Not sure if MegaLauncher can do JPEG backgrounds. If it can, I'm not sure where they go.

So you have to stor them on a memory stick? Or is that how you would transfer it to the clie?

If you want to have multiple background to choose from in YiShow you must have a memory stick, otherwise when you sync the new one overwrites the old one.

Oh ok, well then where do I put a background I have as a .jpg on my computer to sync to my clie?

Apparently from reading the info at the developers site you have to store the wallpaper on a mem stick - does any one else here now how to do it anyother way, I never tried 'cause Ive always had a mem stick.

You have to put the Background to the MS just for installation. It will be converted and you can delete the original file from the MS.

Won't Backdrop GC work on Highres+ clies?

I don't think it works on OS5 Clie's. CodeDiver will add a background to most any other app, like BackDrop GC, but it's not free. And when doing backgrounds, there seems to be a slight lag updating the screen.

What about WP [wallpaper] Diver that comes with CodeDiver, et al.? I seem to remember rldunn putting a background in Launcher X that way . . . not sure what the requirements are (MS or not) but if you do a search of the forums MadDog, you should be able to find a good bit of info, as well as links to the program.

GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN
