I have been looking for a good audio player for my TG-50, but everything that I seem to try makes my Clie crash. I've tried Pocket Tunes, Dio Player, & MMPlayer. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? I appreciate it!

Oh dear...this is disappointing to hear !! I've just bought a 2nd hand TG50 off ebay and am awaiting delivery. Doesn't it come with a built in mp3 player "audio player" ? If so I would have thought it would have worked okay. I use Pocket Tunes on my treo 650 and that works very well, are you using the latest version of Pocket Tunes ? If so, try reverting to an older version that was designed for Palm O/S version 5, if you can get one of course from their website. Once mine arrives I'll try it out and see if I can be of more assistance then.

It does have a built in MP3 player, but for one I have a lot of my cds encoded in other formats and it's a pain to convert them all...plus the biggest thing is that i would like to have the music separated into playlists and you can't do that with the built in player...i will check out trying older versions of pocket tunes, maybe that will work...thanks....

I found this on the Pocket Tunes website...
"Note that some Sony handhelds (specifically the NR, NX, NZ, and TG series) are not supported because they use PalmOS 5.0 or 5.1 and lack the standard audio API. However, there is software being developed to make these handhelds compatible."
If you go there and find this at the bottom, the "software being developed" is a link that will take you to a page with software to fix this problem.
Pocket Tunes is now working great!

Trust me, the built in Audio Player is the best. Use iTunes to convert songs to 128kb .mp3 from your cds. It is very easy. Audio Player runs better, looks better, and is built in.

I don't have itunes. How can I convert my mp3/wma music files to get them to play on the built in audio player?

I have iTunes, I encoded the tracks as 128kb and then mounted my memory stick pro on a card reader on my mac, put the mp3's into the msaudio file. Adioplayer won't recognise them and says I have no tracks available. What am I doing wrong ??!!

Um use MCA2 (http://www.aibohack.com/clie/modclieaud.htm), works for every app that I have found, including PocketTunes and MMPlayer.
Enjoy

To murrayalex:
please make sure that your files are in the following directory:
/palm/programs/msaudio
If you have run Audioplayer or cliefiles with that memorystick in, the folder may have been created for you already.
From your discription, I'd assume that you are creating a "msaudio" folder in the root directory, which is not correct.
If not, make sure that the file names are not in any language that your clie may not recognise properly, for example, loading files with a Chinese file name to a English Clie.

Talking of crashing Clie, when I got mine (secondhand a couple of weeks ago) it crashed whilst using a lot of applications until I found the updates available at http://www.clie-link.com/UK/updates.asp?ID=1172&submenu=updates.asp&mainmenu=compatibility.asp
Now all runs smoothly(ish)
