Well, it's future work for me. One of the jobs I do for my client, is showcasing mobile 3D apps. :)
Mobile phones are just getting to the level of a Playstation. The controls still suck though.

Dude! A Playstation? Hardly!
Even my Treo doesn't run close to that! Maybe Playstation level on dedicated gaming phones, but a lot have a hard time handeling snake!
And yes, the controlls are bad ^_^

How sad for the Treo. :D *Kidding* Take me word. :) I've seen most of the games and even some of the stuff that's slated for next year. An LG VX8000 as an example, looks just as good as a Playstaion, but at a lower-rez of 220x176. The newer games are 320x240 and look just like a PS1 games. Most of these higher-end phones have OpenGL ES accelerators built-in now days, where as the Treo does not. Kind of sad in a way, but I would rather have a Treo, than a game phone. :)

I had had Doom,.. running on my T3 and have to say that gaming on such a box is difficult. I beleive that one can only play Halo or other new FPS's with both mouse(looking) and keyboard(moving). So, that means that you need to hold the PDA/Mobile with one hand and fidget around with the buttons as the same time, while using the stylus to control direction of view....

Yes, OpenGL ES is powerful, but many current phones cant even do basic games as I said before. I know the treo isnt the most powerful hardware, but I have a hard time believeing that my Nokia 3300 cellphone with OpenGL ES could display a Playstation looking game when my Treo 650 cant even emulate that and the T650 has something like 6 times the power.
[If that's what your saying, cause 'thats how I interpureted it]

I understand your doubt, if I hadn't been working on demos for these newer games, I wouldn't believe it either. :)
I've seen and have prepped video for some of the newer games that are slated for next year, on a "dedicated" gaming phone at 320x240, and have prepped videos for much of the current phones, that are designed to fit in a 220x176 screen with a phone bar at the top. I have some of these games on my PC, which I rund through the BREW emulator, which is where I've capture footage, if the the developers couldn't provide videos.
You missed this important bit of info I mentioned; Most of these phones have dedicated GPUs--OpenGLES Accelerators. The T650 does not. The Treo relies soly on the CPU for 3D, so it can't even come close to the performance of some of these later phones.
I made this demo a while back, and add newer videos occasionaly

It's the top demo "3D Gaming Showcase." Note that the screens have been reformated to fit into the phones screen on the demo, so they're slightly scaled up. There are a few demos like TonyHawk and Need for Speed 2, that look as good as PS1, but at a lower-rez as mentioned. The newer 320x240 games that you'll see in the coming year, are just as good, and could even out do a PS1, since hardware has come a long ways since it was originally released.
I have some videos of the 320x240 games, which I used in a sales demo. If I'm not infringing on some NDA, I'll post some pics, or part of the video.

Ah, I meant current phones being sold now / in the past 2 years. Most (Over 80%) dont have the GL chip.
