Ok, so I went to the Pi Tech website, and they said they make pdas

Well, they make PDAs for other companies. Here is what I was thinking:
If each person here donated $10-$30, we could get them to make and market a "1PDA" (I know, it needs a different name :D)

We could have a contest for the name and design.

I've thought about the same thing. At PalmInfocenter there is a thing call "PIC Inc" where we control Palm and different people play roles. Masamune is our CEO. I am head of R&D. How about we make a device with 320x480 res screen and slider. Have a keyboard on the slider. And add wifi.
Make a device with 6gb Compact Flash. Pretty much what the LD should have been and stable.
I like to make it priorty to get the device out as stable frist, then we can worry about adding drivers for accesorises and such.

Well if we just have one PDA it could succeed. Plus we would all have one cause its so cool. I added VR just for Palm users. This idea is like the bastard child of the T|3 and T|C. Or a hybrid.

PalmSource already did and Palm won't use it. Palm decided not to use it because they would have to make a lot of changes and try to keep compatability. They thought of it being too time consuming. But this would be a begining for us so we would take a lot of time anyway. People would want Cobalt and we would be the only ones to provide it.

Cobalt means we can do VGA and Bluetooth 1.2. Garnet only goes up to 480x320. Clamshell. Maybe we sould have to designs. Both great. Plus I really loved my Zire 71's camera, so handy.

I would like to get Skype working on the Wolfram. Another thing to consider is to add support for blind users. I have a friend I talk to on Skype who is a blind computer user. He uses a Symbian device for his stuff. He says Symbian is best to use for blind people. He says Windows Mobile has limited ability for blind users and Palm has no support at all. So that might be something we might want to add because it got qwerty keyboard for input.

We could encourage them to port it to Cobalt. There is a Linux port as well so maybe if we were able to have Palm Linux. We should allow the ROM to be flashable so we can upgrade our devices to Linux. Since it will only be one device or 2 we can work on them and have Linux support. Do not underestimate the power of Cobalt though. It is a lot more capable than Garnet.[plus we don't have to hack it to make things work]

We should have 2 lines. Professional line - Wolfram. And a Multmedia line which will be kinda like the Zodiac but still good on portrait mode with ATI chip and more internal flash.

The Okla is more of a media PDA. Keyboard, camera, wireless (media streaming) and large, high res screen. The Wolfram would be a good professional line. It could look more like a Treo/Blackberry, and work as such. No Zire line for us! :D

Here's my 2c--Definitely needs dual memory slots, hi-res camera and video recording/playing. Don't forget the voice recorder (for those quick notes) and MP3 player. I also want the hi-res screen and clamshell design--I like the NX series design, with the ability to work in tablet mode or keyboard. Phone, WiFi, and bluetooth would be awesome. Loads of memory. And hey, why not throw in the TV tuner? OK, that may add too much weight, but just a thought.

I think we could do better with the name. Element names are quite catchy. How about the Xenon (X1 for short, X2 for the next generation, etc).

Also, I found something out. If you take an LCD and have it against a surface such as clay and stab the crap out of it with, it does not crack. hmmm. Maybe I can make a more crack resistant display.

Anyone want to donate me money via paypal to attempt making a working model. I would need a T|3, SanDisk Wifi card with 256mb flash, thumboard that is near corrent size. I would take the Wifi card and solder it to T|3 innerds and make a switch to use the slot. I would also go at making the thumboard work and function in the correct way.

Someone at Tapland was able to place an SDIO wifi card inside the Zodiac and using it. It worked rendering that slot useless but the Zodiac has 2 SD slots[1 SDIO]
