I have been posting on forums all over about my error, but to no avail. Here it goes again....
I have a Tungsten T5 and I want to download 3rd party software... like Epocrates. For the download of Epocrates, I get as far as verifying my account with password and then I still get the following error:
" Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
C:\programfiles\palmone\hotsync.exe
R6025 - Pure Virtual Function call. "
I have asked for assistance from Palm Customer Service and Epocrates. Their solutions get nothing done. I have done uninstalls, reinstalls, hard resets, you name it. Please lend some advice, I would greatly appreciate some help.
Does anyone know what to do?

I have a feeling it might be a corrupted install, or a corrupted/mis-registered Visual C runtime file (msvc*.dll in System or System32)

I am sorry to report that trying what you recommended has failed to repair my error. I went to download the specific mscv*.dll files from http://www.dll-files.com and replaced them one by one, troubleshooting individually with a download of Epocrates + HotSync. I even replaced all 9 as a whole, but this still did not fix the error. :(
Ok, to recap, I can Hotsync perfectly fine without Epocrates. But when I install Epocrates I need to do a HotSync to pass it to my PDA. This is when the error appears:
" Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
C:\programfiles\palmone\hotsync.exe
R6025 - Pure Virtual Function call. "
I think the problem has to do with my PC, possibly because I owned a previous Zire (and now have a Tungsten T5) or because my "registry" is messed up. I have downloaded free versions of registry cleaners but none seem to work.
Can someone help me get rid of this error so that I can successfully use Epocrates at work?

I had the same problem with xp and hotsync with a lifedrive did all the above finally just unistalled :( deleted all leftover folders rebooted thrice reinstalled clean after installing the visual c libs and dll and voila it was gone but i really dont know what did the trick since u use a tungsten assuming u have a sd card backup all tungsten files using a good backup like backvfs :) then hardreset the palm clean out ur pc palm desktop reinstall do a plain hotsync with a empty palm then restore from backup and reinstall ur conduits one by one syncing with each conduit installl thats basically the only way i think
yes I know this is an extreme measure I just dont know any other way when I had put my previous post in the lifedrive section I didnt get any reply assuming i wass the first in the lifedrive section having that problem but looking it up in the palm forums i realised that quite a few people were having the same hotsync glitch mostly T5 users I hope this helps the same conduits with almost identical setup never crashed my zire 72 my th55 or my T3
Yes I did use the Zire 72 before I got rid of it and got the lifedrive maybe thats the problem ??? really baffled me that issue it did
I always thought it was one of those rogue conduits  that hanged the hotsnyc from the pc thats why the clean palm and palm desktop sync befope restoring :(
ps i got rid of my lifedrive got a treo 650 more manageable and one less item with issues to lug around :D
This was my previous post
I recently crashed my lifedrive after I installed a demo comy of slovoed Eng to eng Dictionary basically the files refused to hotsync so i tried to sync to the card and the LD went into a reset loop did a complete erase and tried to reinstall from my desktop backup with no luck tried twice both times went into a reset loop even after i deleted all ref to slovoed files from the backup copy and with a new SD card. It just wouldnt budge and became a unstable mess
So had to hard reset delete backup and conduits and unistall and reinstall palm desktop
so there I am a new copy of desktop a clean Ld I do a basic sync and wham

receiving the error message also after hotsync...
error 6025, which m$ site says is a programming
error in the hotsync module
"CAUSE
This error occurs when your application indirectly calls a pure virtual member function in a context where a call to the function is not valid. In most cases, the compiler detects this and reports the error when building the application. But depending on how your code is written, sometimes the problem is detected only at run-time.
The error occurs when you indirectly call a pure virtual function within the context of a call to the constructor or destructor of an abstract base class. This is illustrated in the sample code below, along with some more description. "

Solution ID : 4011
What to do if you receive the error HotSync runtime error: R6025 when performing a HotSync® on the palm™ Tungsten™ T handheld.
You may receive this error if there is a disturbance in the HotSync® process. To resolve this issue, we suggest that you complete the instructions below:
Verify that 'HotSync Manager' is running by moving your mouse pointer over the icon in the Windows® 'systray'.
If it is not, start HotSync Manager, by clicking on 'Start', 'Programs', 'Palm Desktop' and click on 'HotSync Manager'.
Seat the device in the HotSync cradle, and press the HotSync button again.
In some instances it may be necessary to perform a soft reset on the device, prior to performing the HotSync operation to be sure the device is fully operational. To do this, simply insert the stylus tip into the reset hole on the back of the unit and press to perform the soft reset.
For more information on resetting the device, please click here.

Ok everyone… after some painstakingly tedious troubleshooting and otherwise distracting waste of time, I have SOLVED my PDA problem. Certain people don’t follow-up on their postings when problems are resolved, but here goes… practice the Golden Rule (treat others how you want to be treated). :)
The problem with the Runtime Error R6025 was my firewall. Yes, even disabling my firewall did not solve the problem. Believe it or not, my online HotSync to Epocrates (and other free 3rd party softwares) was prevented by the firewall EVEN WHEN IT WAS DISABLED. My Epocrates update worked error-free when I uninstalled my firewall. This is a short term solution for everyone to try: uninstall the firewall temporarily, update your data, and then reinstall. If that works, then the firewall is the culprit.
However, I called my particular brand firewall, ZoneAlarm, and asked what the long-term solution was, because that was an involved, risky process. They instructed me to find my firewall folder on MyComputer and open a program that adjusted my application filter. I advise asking your firewall technical support to instruct you on the specifics of how you would do that for your brand. That is all. My PDA works fine now!! :D
Thanks for all the feedback I received.
Dan
