Hello,

I just got an E2 this week. I'm not sure I like it. I have 2 weeks to return it.

I was wondering if you could all tell me which PDA to get or if I should keep this one.

I use it for: medical books, email, games, pictures, calendar, to dos, and memo.

I'm not happy with the slowness of the transition from application to application. In the medical field, sometimes you can't wait. I may need something faster.

I got this E2 coz my Clie UX-50 crapped out.

Help me decide what to do please!!!

Thanks!

My TE2 is AWESOME!! I love mine, it isn't slow at all. Perhaps you are inpatient. It takes time to load, just like your computer.

All the new (and upcoming from what rumors I've seen) models come with NVFS (non-volatile file system) which prevents data loss if the battery is drained. This comes with a tradeoff in terms of speed, particularly when loading large applications from the SD card. I'm fine with the tradeoff.

You could get another UX50... ;)

Not sure what to advise you. I just "upgraded" from my beloved Sony T665 to an E2. There are lots of things I like about the E2, but I have two peeves with it.

The first peeve is the one you allude to - the slow transition between apps. I appreciate that one can be impatient, but the transition between apps is slower than on my T665. I find that puzzling. I have stared at a white screen for 5 to 8 seconds at times.

My second peeve is one I have seen elsewhere on this forum. Realplayer, for playing songs, is really awful. Much worse than Audioplayer on the Sony. Thankfully I don't listen to songs much on my handheld since I bought an iPod.

Otherwise I am really enjoying the E2 now that I have everything configured to my liking.

a ux50 to an e2 seems to be a downgrade in my view. why not wait for a TX?

A UX50 to a E2 is a big downgrade. No keyboard, smaller screen, no flip screen, no WiFi, less memory, and no camera...

Whats a TX.....when is it coming out....and what will it have???

Thanks for the opinions everyone!!

p.s. I realize the T2 is a downgrade...BUT....since my UX has crashed numerous times in the past few months, my trust in it is nil at best. I just opted out of Sony and into another Palm. I think if I could have gotten all of my desktop things into a Pocket PC, I would have gone that route, but I can't, so I got the T2. I still have a week to take it back though!!

The TX runs on Palm OS Garnet 5.4.9 and has a 312MHz processor, a 320 x 480 display, 128MB of non-volatile memory, WiFi, Bluetooth 1.2, and a SDIO expansion card slot.

We are anticipating the TX will be officially announced by Palm sometime in mid-October.

The T3's speed, ample amount of real RAM, and HVGA screen may be better for gaming, viewing pics, and medical stuff for u. Don't know if they sell it new from online vendors. Else if u can't find new on ebay, u'll have to settle with a used T3. T5 may be a viable alternative to T3, but i can't comment if the NVFS RAM on that is any faster.

Where do you all put your apps, books, etc.....on the card or on the handheld? Some of mine need a piece of each. Wierd.

I generally install my most frequently used applications to RAM; data and secondary applications to card(s). Some applications require installation to RAM unless you use a launcher. To free up RAM, Documents to Go can be installed partially to RAM and partially to card. Dataviz has a tool to accomplish this.

I don't use business type things...just nursing books.

I'd recommend you follow developers' suggestions on where to install, usually found in the readme file. I think that ePocrates has to be in RAM from what I've read in various forums.
