data tranfer from clie NR to Kyocera smartphone

I just purchased the new Kyocera smartphone 7135 (Verizon).
I love my NR, but to have one device, an MP3 player and a dictaphone in one small unit is just too convenient to pass up. How do I transfer data from one to the other?
I am especially confused about the data transfer from the MS to the SD card. Do I just hot sync? Use BackupBuddy? Use my card reader?

Can some one help me? I tried to hot sync it and all I get on the phone is fatal error. Perhaps it is related to hi res screen vs. normal screen on phone?
