Default launcher on T5 background problem

I thought I would play around a bit with using the background option with my T5. I downloaded a number of 320x480 backgrounds. When viewing the images in full screen view in PalmOne media the images appear as they were intended to be viewed as a background. However when chosen as a background it appears as if the image is magnified as a good percentage of the image is offscreen and the visable part it larger than it should appear and as seen in PalmOne media.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this so it works correctly?

If I had to guess, I think the pics need to be 480x480 to account for rotation and such, at least that's what it seemed to me when I've tried.

That would be fine cept when I am viewing the launcher I am always in normal top to bottom (portait?) vs side to side (landscape?) mode. What I am basically wondering is why what I stated is happening. Here are some screen caps to show what is going on.

The 1st one is the screen shot of viewing the image in media and what it should look like as a background and the 2nd of course is what it ends up looking like as a background I don't get why this is happening and how to correct it.
