What I think is possibly the weirdest part of all of this: Verizon branding. Verizon has been practically the last carrier to get the past two Treos, why would they get the first branding?

WILL there be a Palm OS version? If not, it would be somewhat sad to see, but on the other hand it could just cause a lot of confusion. The "700w" part of the naming makes me believe that it could be true.

I think there will DEFINITELY be a 700p. Palm will slightly updgrade the 650 by giving us EV-DO, more memory, better camera. I think Sprint as usual will have the exclusive on it. Palm likes to upgrade devices slightly, but being a 650 owner I'd upgrade just for the first 2, and I will. There is a reason the 700w has w, I think Palm will play up "choice". I wrote about this a while ago, but posted it on my site today.

If needed, especially for a Treo ;), I could go to a 320*320 screen, but come one. What the heck was Palm thinking of putting a 240*240pixel screen in a Treo?!?!?(Wm or not) Thats like putting a 160*160 pixel screen in a Palm OS Treo, and who would go for that??? Should I say this?.... WM or not, I want the Treo700x for its design! I love it, look at it!! And if there is the 700p(why else would that mkae this one the 700w?), I want it more. :) WM doesnt (easily) sync to Mac anyway, does it?

I just recieved an e-mail alert from Palm. They are scheduling a joint news conference with microsoft and verizion for september 26. that's just 3 days away. It looks like the treo 700w is about to get the official confirmation.
