I've gotten alot of information from you guys concerning the UX50... it truely is a unique device! I do however have a question.

Why don't you all talk about the Video Recorder? I'm sure some of the people here aren't too familiar with what it is and what it is capable of. That little device significantly increases the use and value of the UX50!

Does anyone other than myself use the device?

I use it when I'm practicing my guitar. :)

I use it when I need it, but I use my camera more

(I have a camera and voice recorder on my NX, so I guess this post can be used for both devices :))

The video is pretty low quality and I've really only found it useful to catch quick clips not longer recordings.

Not on my NX80 ;)
1.3 MP looks quite good :)
.3 on a UX is another matter :(
Why didn't the UX have 1.3?

To try and cap the cost of what was an already incredibly expensive device at its release I assume.

Wait guys...

I don't think we're all talking about the same thing! I'm talking about a unit that can record television shows. Something similar to a VCR except it is a unit that record on memory sticks in a format that is compatible with the Sony Clie UX50.

Okay... so now that I've cleared that up... do any of you all have such a device? I do and I use it quite often. It has increased the value of my UX50 two-fold!

Ahh, Video Recorder! Thought you ment a Movie Recorder using the camera.... :D

You mean like this:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000DH5PN/002-3635862-6832812?v=glance

At $600, you can buy two UX50s :D

Yes Dragonsgames!!!

That's exactly what I'm talkin' about!

I do admit.. it was an expensive toy although I don't recall paying that much for it. I believe I paid about 300.00 for mines and it was well worth every penny!

Do you have one?

Na, I would get one if I could find it for $200-300 ;)

I don't have one of these, but I did recently buy a TV tuner card off E-bay for my computer for about $40. It will record TV shows just like a VCR. To play on the UX you have to run the .avi file through Image Converter (cause I use FMP). The image quality is fine for the small screen and even though it requires the extra step of converting it's a heck of a lot cheaper. It has video inputs so I can convert old VHS videos to digital format. It will also receive and record radio broadcasts in MP3 format. So if I miss Car Talk when it's on I can always load it on the UX to listen to later.

I have a VR100K, and used it a fair bit when I was travelling. I would record a bunch of shows, movies etc. Quite a remarkable little unit.

Given I am not travelling as much, I am willing to part with the little unit if someone wants to offer me something for it.

I use Gigapocket off my vaio and it automatically formats in a format to download right onto my Clie. I actually use it quite frequently and can get about 5 hours on my 512M card (and still have MPG's on there) in low quality. High quality eats up alot of MG's. The only bummer is that I can't edit the commercials out like I can when I click to DVD. Altogether I love it!!
