Does anyone know of a program to replace the standard sync/install tool that will allow one to specify a directory on the memorystick for install?

SyncWizard will do this, but not automatically. With the standard install tool, I can select a file and change the destination from RAM to memorystick (installs to the palm/launcher/ subdirectory), but that's it.

Thanks,
Gary

Try Simply Install - Pilot Install:

http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=50123620030120074911&prodID=7146

It's free ware, and you can install directly to the MS. There is also a Pilot Install Plus with more features for $10.

I forgot about that! I have it and have used it, but it doesn't expressly state that it reads MS...although I tried it and entered a directory on the MS and it worked fine.

Pilot Install is handy, but takes several steps. Would like something more automated (as in setup standard upload directories for certain file types).

What's wrong MSImport?  I just put the Clie on the craddle, launch MSImport, go to the Windows Explorer in PC, then drag and drop files from PC to the MS which is the Removable Drive (mine is drive E:\).
