It's out. And far from what I expected.

Ezikial, I will never forgive you for beating me to the punch on posting this. :D

Looks like fun. At first I thought the touch screen on the DS was a bit of a gimmick, but then I realized that it could make for really cool games that could never be done on other systems. You can bet that the PSP 2 will have a touch screen.

This Revolution controller seems a little weird at first. But I think I may grow to like it.

My only problems are this
- It will make third party multiplatform ports almost impossible.
- Playing old NES games I can see. But SNES and N64? Almost impossible, without some sort of attachment. (Gamecube controllers maybe?)

Whatever happens, I'm excited. I will be buying one of these the second it comes out.

WTF!!! I was all, WTF!!! Then I read it and I'm still WTF!!!

Can you imagine how detailed a dungeon RPG could be with this control setup? Moving with the anologue stick and swinging with the joystick thingy like a sword or axe. HOLY POOOOH!!!! FPS games will be freaking amazing on this game. Especially a Star Trek shooter since you hold the controler kind of like a phaser. :)

Holy monkey fecies!!! If this is as intuitive as the Stylus is for things like throwing balls and FPS games, then this will be the all mighty control system that could even defeat the keyboard mouse combo. I'm not keeping my finger crossed, but this has opened me mind. :)

Nintendo seems to have produced something that will trully give command over a 3D enviroment. :)

For old NES games, just turn the remote sideways, not sure if it will be confortable, but it will work. :)

Being able to attach a traditional controller like the GameCubes, or and SNES pad would be a better idea though. It would be more accessories for Nintendo to sell, and I would buy them all. :)

Nintendo kept their word with innovative game play with the DS, and I see it with their Nintendogs, so I'm all aboard with Revolution and the new joystick. This seems like a very, VERY interesting expierience. I just hope that when it comes out, Metroid is released same time too :D.

OK, Nintendo, tell me the launch date and I'll tell you you have a sale.

LOL I was thinkin the same thing. This would be soooo great for RolePlayin games, especially if your weilding a sword, heck, just roleplayin period.Let the action be real time and when your enemies attack, you have to defend and fight back! No more 'in system' combos, make your own! I'm just drooling at the thought. MS and Sony are in a their own war, Nintendo is treading new a path for others to follow.

JackAxe

And Nintendo makes a profit doing so. :) MS can go on loosing money as their stock stagnates and Sony can make another PS that plays the same games as a PS2, just nicer looking. But who cares. I would rather play GTA on a system that allows me to actually swing a pipe in my hand, something that can only be done on the revolution. :D

I can imagine all of the lame-arse-attempts that come out for the other systems when this proves to be the best control set up for 3D games.

I WANT ONE! BAD!

Sorry =X =)
I am too! I have to! It's amazing!
Theres a video of people playing it on IGN.com! It looks so much fun! Oh, and if you read the article, they played a Metroid Prime 3 demo that Retro put together for them! AWESOME!

I deffinatly would as well - especailly if they made them not only connect to the Revolution but included an adapter to conect to the original systems themselves! (Come on, accessories are harder and harder to find!)

Especially the first 2 months after release. That drives me crazy when I want an extra controller and they're all sold out. This always happens. :)

Bring it on Nintendo, give me a Zelda game that will make me do cart wheels and flying jump kicks just to survive. :) I want to be a skilled sword fighter. :)

This controller will allow arcade type games that have elaborate setups in our homes.

Freak, Nintendo is on a roll. First the DS and now this. I haven't been this excited about games since the old 16-bit days. When I relized that my DS could make the ultimate RPG dungeon hack game, I was so giddy with joy. But then I see this thing and the amount of potential it has and I'm all giddied out. :o I have two courses of action, I must become a developer for Nintendo and buy a Revolution the day it's released.

They got it right this time. Full 3D motion sensing??? WOW!!!

If you ask me, only having the ability to run 4 of those controllers at once is not surprising, as it means the sensing hardware has to be able to sense 4 objects moving in 3D with high accuracy. If Nintendo gets something close to HD (I would settle for 720p, and it is almost guaranteed to have 480p, at least the NGC had it), then this will be the console to beat. The strangest thing is that the scalability of the controller means that there could be further enhancements, such as actual touch feedback.

Woe to those naysayers who say that Revolution will be unable to play cross platform titles. According to IGN, there will be a classic controller attachment that will have buttons and control sticks like a traditional controller.

There is a picture in this article, but it's merely a mockup. Here's hoping that it's actually like that.

Nintendo specified all games will need to be developed at 480 for the Revolution, so at least that's there.

Anways fun is on the way. I wonder how the DS will tie into this, since Nintendo stated it will connect the Revolution like a SP/GBA to a GC?

Only if I can plug my DS in and transfer over George. And anytime spent on the Revolution would count towards time spent on the DS. Maybe the fur attachment will become a reality. :)

That would be great, be able to port the pups back and forth :D. It would be hard if it doesn't work together, make you work twice as hard. Rather have one smooth flow, work on dog on the Revolution, then gettin ready to leave, transport over to DS and continue workin from there :D.

Wireless DS working together with Revolution... Hmmm...
I would not mind using the DS as a controller for "Old school games" (SNES games!)

...
I can see it now. Or can I?

JackAxe

Nintendo stated at E3 that the DS would work in conjunction with the Revolution.

I hope that Nintendo sells a controller that looks like the hilt of Link's sword. Zelda Revolution is going to be sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun. :)

I hope that they sell a bow attachment, well an attachment for all the different weopons. :)

Oh, on the Nintendogs thing, I hope that Nintendo sells a GBA expansion cart for it. That would also allow for data to be downloaded from the Revolution. So maybe Nintendog's Revolution comes with this GBA cart.

Yes! Sword fighting games and FPS games are going to OWN as long as the developers dont push massive ammounts of crap all over us... (like "Unfinished" games, ultra high price per title points, ect)

JackAxe

You must be confusing the Revolution with a PS3, or X360. :)

You know, surely someone on this site must dislike the controller. What about T-Man, the Xbox fanatic? I'm eager to hear from all sides.

I didn't like it at first glance.
Honestly? I was about to punch Mr. Myamoto in the face if I could find him.

Then, I sat down, and thought about it for more than 5 seconds, and realized honestly how amazing this will be.

Then I wanted to kiss him. Again and again.

I didn't like it until I read about its features. When I first saw it, I thought they were just modeling it after a remote so it would be familiar. But a little bit of reading opened my mind to all the possibilities.

Here's a link to the Keynote. It talks about the GBA-Micro, DS and Revolution controller, and why they released them. How they're expanding the currently shrinking game market.

Anyways worth watching.

Unfortunately it requires wmvomit.

I'm hoping that Nintendo's patent is so secure on this new controller, that MS and Sony won't be able release some second rate rip-off.(Afterthought.)

Yeah, it sucks. I refuse to install it on my G5 and Powerbook. I almost powered up one of my PCs, but then remembered it was still on my G4, so I watched it on there. But when I rearange my office in the next month or so, I'm wiping my G4 and putting Tiger on it, so say goodbye to WMV on all of my Macs. WMV; POS format.

Ohhhh, I thought a 47min presentation, geez, it would have to be VERY good to hold my attention that long. It did ^_^. There is a reason why Nintendo is still here, and many others are not. They kept to the promise of innovative game play ^_^ and THAT is what matters. I can't wait for Revolution to come out. Think bout it, the sports group will be happy. Golf, Tennis, Football will be even better with the new controller :D. I can't wait to see Zelda too, be able to use my 1337 ninja skills to defelect blows lol.

If anything, this new controller wil force lazy bastards like me to get some exercise. :D

One of the companies I do work for can track overall use of different media formats, and WMV was dead last when it came to views. First it was Flash FLV, then QT, then Real (More Vomit!!!,) and then the crap at the bottom WMV. :D I'm not a fan of proprietary when it's of a poor quality. :)
