Hi,
IMHO WikiPedia. it fits nicely on the LD's harddrive, leaving plenty of room for other things (size is roughly 1GB). Note that if Wikipedia itself is free, Tomeraider (reader for the Wikipedia file) is not.

I have to agree. I have Wikipedia as well, and I love it. It works very well.

True, Tomb Raider is not free, but all you get is a nag screen and how often do you use an encyclopedia?

I have the 2 GB Wikipedia with images and they are the best! There is also a 4 GB version but sigh... my LD will need a 6 GB HD at least to use that.

Hi,
Very often in my case, at least once a day.
Besides, it's not only a nag screen, but some articles are blocked and cannot be seen.
Third, when I use a software regularly, I pay for it. The benefit of having a good salary, I guess, is that it's easier to be honest.

Hi Ken,
Can you tell me where you downloaded it? Or did you make it yourself using the provided scripts?
Are the images in the 2GB version bigger than the ones in the 1GB version? I find them painfully small to look at on the LD's display.
Thanks,
Laurent

I have issues with the search function in TombRaider + Wikipedia 1Gb. Occasionally it'll stop on the 3rd or 4th letter. Can anybody duplicate this?

Hi,
It happens only after the trial period expires, AFAICS. I also saw it documented somewhere, but I am unable to remember where, sorry.

Do users of wikipedia find that it is reliable? Since wikipedia is created by the user, it can have incorrect info, can't it?

I had wondered the same thing, however; after having used Wikipedia on my Palm, I have been amazed at its content and reliability. I'm impressed!

If i use tomeraider on my life drive, do i need to purchase tomeraider for windows in order to convert the files for reading on my palm? according to this:
"Download the Raid Script for the book you are interested in making on your PC by clicking on the ecover.
Open the Raid Script in TomeRaider for Windows and let it download the pages from the website, index and categorize them.
The result will be an ebook created from a web page that you can read in any version of TomeRaider. As you can see, this is the future of publishing."

Hi,
It really depends what you intend to read. There are tons of already converted books and articles on line, for which you only need a reader (TomeRaider for Palm OS, for example). If you want to create your own TR files, then yes, you also need the converter, which is to be purchased separately.
Maybe you can also consider another alternative: iSilo (which is not free) and iSiloX (converter, free). It really depends what you'll use the reader for.

I intend to use it for an encyclopedia with pictures, along with some other reference books. I figured out, in order to view them, i needed to change the ending of the file to pdb. Now i have another question. I want them installed to the 4gb portion of course. Can i just make a folder called "Books" and Tomeraider will scan it for the books?

Hi,
Many reference books are available in Tomeraider format, including of course the famous WikiPedia. So probably no need for you to buy the Windows version.
As for storage, you can of course store your files on the HD and on the SD card, and you can specify in Tomeraider's options which folder it should look for.
Greetings,

Aside from memoware.com and tomeraider.com, where can i find more TR3 files? Also, am i correct about not being able to download an ebook unless the ending has the tr extension. Are these the only types of files that tomeraider can pic up?
