Has anyone else experienced a problem in setting the Auto-Off timer in their preferences?
I've had my Treo for a month or so now and no matter what auto-off setting I set it to (30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes) it still turns off after 30 seconds....this is becoming a little annoying. Anyone else have this problem?

Is there any software installed that may change the Auto-off time?

Nothing that I know of. The only third-party software I have installed to the RAM that didn't come with the Treo is PalmRevolt (which isn't in use at the moment), McFile, Backupman and Verichat

Yes, there most certainly is and it is called SysInfo. (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&prodID=36679)

i am assuming that you have the latest firmware (not sure what carrier/hardware you have), but, this issue was noticed by many people after installing the latest/newest firmware (whereas they did not have it before upgrading).
there are a few 3rd party apps that will correct this though.

I have an unlocked Cingular Branded Treo 650. Firmware appears to have been the model intended for AT&T (now Cingular), so I performed the appropriate update. I've been reading that I could have just as easily done the update for the Unlocked Model and avoided some problems... any idea if this might fix it?

no that won't fix it. i also have an unlocked cingular treo 650 as well. if you use xpress mail and other "cingular type features", then you would want to use the cingular update, vs the unlocked gsm update.
having said that, there are other 3rd party apps to correct this if you really want to.

Auto off have had a few issues, mine does not lock at the preset time. Some times it does but for the most part it does not. I have posted the question with Palm more then 10 days ago, hopefully they will reply this century.

I noticed this problem prior to installing the Treo 650 update for verizon wireless ... Seems to have fixed the problem for me.
