What is the main difference between the white and blue memory stick? What is the advantage of MagicGate?

From what I understand the white one can do one more thing than the blue one. That is it can record ATRAC3 music. I listen to MP3 so have no need of the white one. Furthermore, I can get 2 blue ones for the price of one white one.
