As far as I know, even though the contest maybe over, there was a work in progress that was about 50% completed. I lost the email and ClieSource lost it too. The crux of the problem was the lack of info from Sony to make it readily feasable. Sony wanted $3,000.00 alone for one particular item(schematics/drawings??).

Who told you this? I didn't get my money back. And I don't want it back yet. Better continue the contest.

One more thing. Please leave your "stinks" to yourself.

Um, dude?   It was front page news on the site for almost a week.

And that reference to "stinks" had nothing to do with a person, numnuts.  It was referring to the fact that even if 3rd party developers want to develop things on Sony's platform, they STILL block development and won't cut anyone a break.  Is it obvious enough now that Sony only wants to sell their overpriced WLAN card and nothing else for that CF slot?  MSPro or bust, baybee!!!  BetaMax, anyone?  ROFL.

I'll re-iterate.  It does STINK that Sony continues to do this to the people who buy their products.

PEEEEEE - UUUUUUUU!

Yup, that's the stench of arrogance you're getting a whiff of!!! ;)

I still hope, and pray...;-) I am going to get a Canon 230 camera with CF card hoping that I can use the CF card at a later time in my Clie.

Read first, speak second.

First read the quote in the beginning of my message, then make your conclusions. At least you will understand what particular question I was addressing.

I did read first. And I understood the question perfectly.

And it WAS, in fact, posted on the front page of the site for over a week (before the corruption) that everyone's money was being refunded. If you didn't get yours, I suggest sending an email to Reggie and maybe you can find out what happened to it.

You know, I was just looking at my PayPal account, and I never got my money back. Did everyone else get it back?

Yup, someone is working on it and their getting closer every day. Developing a driver is not something you can do overnight especially if there is no documentation to refer to.

I wish the person luck (I'm in contact with him and so far he is still making steady progress, but no preview yet :))

Do you know if they are planning on releasing it is freeware? If not, have they mentioned any possible price range?

It won't be freeware for sure. (Think about all of the work they had to spend reverse engineering to find out about how things worked...)

No pricerange. I would imagine $20 but that's just what I would sell it for.

Folks,
Don't forget there are some more people working on this driver too. If you recall, there were several messages from one guy (screen name dmp) who claimed to be "50% there". I know him and I know he is working very hard to finish this driver.

As to cbulock's question, I don't know if anybody received back any money from the contest. Moreover, after the deadline I and many other people on this board suggested to reopen the contest. We never received any answer wrom Cliesource administration.

So I would like to repeat the question.

To Cliesource administration:

Is there any way we can reinstate the CF Memory Driver Contest?

I agree with Oyakov. Let's restart the contest. Better rules would be needed. Anyone who wants to keep their money in the contest should be welcome.

I think me and Oyakov are talking about the same person :).

I'd defiantly keep my money in if there were going to restart the contest. But it has been a few weeks since it ended, so it would seem they would refund the money as promised.

I'm not sure about this. With all the technical troubles Cliesource have had lately, administration simply might've been busy. We could be lucky they had no time to refund the money yet.

Anybody would volunteer to write to the administration to reinstate the Contest?

If someone is working on the driver that is very FiNE.

As to Sony:
I recall everyone to yell at them. sony doesn't give importance to customer satisfaction. when they sell something they forget the customer.

so let's yell at them:
yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh SONYyyyyyyyy.

I remember this very well and concur with the series of events. I was under the impression that most wanted the contest to continue for a couple more months! I did not see any official decsion since and then ClieSource crashed. I believe there was some amount over $1,700.00 in the account. I also understood that your friend would seek a monetary amount for his efforts, which is fine by me.

Joining late, but I would be all for a restarted contest, a thermomator to show how much money they have and see how high we can get it. But the end result should be a minimum contribution level gets you a free copy of the winning driver (with free updates). This to me would be worth the money.

I would up my contribution (which PayPal did credit back to me.) to $50 if it would help us get that driver finished.

How awesome would it be to use that cheap, available source of memory as an alternative/suppliment to MS. Argh, the anticipation is killing me!!!!! ;-)

When did you get your money back? So it seems, Cliesource started refunding the contest money. Too bad, it means, they are not interested to prolong the contest. Cliesource administration did not hear our voices :(

Well, I'm afraid we would have to start from square one.
