Ya, ok; I have no idea whether or not this is a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway. I've been a Palm user for two years (IIIxe then m500) and I recently (4 months ago) switched over to Sony's SJ20. And since then, I've read several times on different websites and forms, etc. about a program called Clié Mail and how it's better than the standard mail program that comes with Palm's PDAs. Is this correct? Is there a different program or did I just misunderstand? I didn't see this program on the installation CD that came with my Sony. Do I already have it? How do I get it? Am I even able to get it? What is different about it? Urgh! I am so confused!

My understanding is that Cliemail allows you to send/ receive email while actually on line with a modem, while the Mail app that comes with your SJ20 only allows for email to be sent/ received via a sync. I believe Cliemail was only included with some of the "higher end" Clies. However, it seems like a dream to me that I saw a thread that included a link to a site that would allow you to download Cliemail. Try a search for Cliemail. If you are interested in using Cliemail as an active email gateway, you will need either an IR modem or a cell phone with a cable connection to your SJ. There have also been some threads about this. It might take a while to search for all of this, but it's there somewhere. Hope this helps.

I don't quite like Clie Mail, it is actually creating another set of Mail DB and is not able to read the one which created by the built-in Mail. And you can't seem to sync with specific folder if you want to using the condit it provided. I am using Intellisync with DataVizMail, which utilize the same set of Mail DB as built-in Mail and can be synced with multiple folders in Outlook.

BTW, I don't send mail while on the go anyway... :Q

Check this (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nXtClieClub/files/-Replacement%20Apps/) out. You may need to be a registered member to be able to open and download the app. That is the link to nXtClieClub. Clie Mail.zip is in Files/Replacement Apps folder. I don't use it since the OEM Palm Mail is good enough for me. If I want to upgrade I may go for Snapper Mail which can open native attachment files like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Jpeg, pdf etc.

I keep getting the annoying message when I sync asking me if I will allow Outlook to have a 3rd party program access my Outlook email data. It's frustrating to have to stand by the Clie until that message comes up so I can answer it.

Is there anyway to shut off this warning in Outlook XP?

Part of the security in Outlook is that it warns you if some other program (like a virus) is trying to access addresses or other Outlook features. I don't think there's a way to turn it off without going to a much earlier version of Outlook, but then you lose the security.

If you don't need Cliemail (which I do not), just delete it. I have the SJ33 and the install is on the CD so I can always reinstall it later. I deleted it for exactly the same reason as you and now just use the Palm mail which is fine for me.

Well, I use DataViz Mail with Microsoft Outlook (Office XP)... and it never makes the dialog pop up, but if I use ClieMail, the dialog pops up. I would rather use ClieMail because it allows you to use the jog dial to select the e-mail you would like to read and read it... DataViz Mail doesn't.

You would think that there would be a simple way to choose what programs had "Permission" to access Outlook without having to go through the popup everytime. Oh well.

I've been trying to get ClieMail to work with my cell phone, and it does not complete the log on successfully.

According to a Sony support person I spoke with this afternoon, ClieMail will sync with Outlook Express; ClieMail _may_ work online IF you are already logged on via the PC -- but ClieMail does not dial up & log on to your ISP. (I guess this means I'm going to buy some kind of PDA e-mail client software & hope for the best.)
