I was playing around with my Treo 650 on a lazy Saturday afternoon and plugged my DLink Bluetooth dongle into my laptop. As I was trying some things I noticed a Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard title in my Programs listings on WinXP. I had heard that Windows supported Bluetooth but had not tried anything as I heard that Verizon had squashed OBEX on the Treo (like it did on some of the Motorola models).
I decided to give it a try anyway and it worked! Quite smoothly and quickly as a matter of fact. The help system within the wizard clearly states “The Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard uses the Object Exchange (OBEX) File Push service to transfer files. Both the computer and the device need to be set up to use this service.”
If folks have a BT dongle on their XP based systems, they should give it a try. Just thought I would share.
