Is there an inexpensive alternative calculator for the clie that can do mortgage (time value of money) and scientic calculations? The financial part is most important to me.

I beamed my Parens Lite calculator from my Palm IIIxe into my new NR70/U. Some functions (buttons) of this calulator are blurry. Nothing wrong with the clie display. The problem is that these blurred "buttons' ie, functions, dont work. For instance, the PV button (present value) or PMT button (payment) or FV button (future value dont work at all. On the Math part, the exponential function etc also dont work. The calculator works well on my Palm.

I dont know what version is my Parens Lite. It is 22 KB in size and I had it for 2 years.

Any ideas? Is there a newer version or a fix for some conflicts? Any alternative calculator that can do the similar things?

Many thanks.

Hi Mr. Wong

I know what you think. I also used parens for a long time, but know the programm has been suspended.

I tried many calculators since then, but none that I like as much as good old parens ... except one: NeoCal

NeoCal is cool but try Calcul-8! It's free and has planty of functions.

Thank you very much for the 3 replies. I have not heard of easycal, Neocal or Calcl-8 before and am looking to find them and try them.

If you know where or how to get these three calculators, please let me know.

As to Parens Lite, I finally solved my problem. My problem was I only beamed Parens lite from my Palm to my clie. It turns out that Parens depends on a math library of functions to run. So I installed the math library onto the clie, and it and Parens lite are working just fine.

You can look for these and lots of other great applications in PalmGear.com

All calculators are using the Mathlib so you shall need it regardless the type you'll be using.
