How do I get rid of some of the (for me) less usefull items locked on CD Rom. Any idea? Thanks, Wolf

CD ROM?

In a few more weeks Brayder may have something for us shortly to work with the Flash ROM.

Brayder sent me an email saying EOM. Can't wait. It would be nice if Sony would make these apps optional since they only give us 11MB of free space compared to Palms 14MB.

Sony used to offer a little program called ROMHidePanel.prc that allowed you to hide (not delete) those ROM apps you don't use. It does work on the NX70, quite well actually. I don't know where on Sony's site it is available. Of course, Sony doesn't support it.

I'd love to delete the Clie's own launcher...looks pretty but it can't touch LauncherX

Speaking of Clie Launcher, I noticed that the back button will allow you to switch between the apps and the catagories when using the Jog Dial. This made a cumbersome launcher much easier to navigate.

The mentioned apps are in ROM, not in RAM, so they don't take up RAM. The reason that the NX only has 11MB of available RAM comared to the Tungsten-T's 13-14 is that Sony reserved a much larger heap space than Palm did. Multimedia apps tend to need heap space.

BTW, after using ROMHide, you can often delete some files used by those hidden apps in RAM. For example, Welcome uses a small file in RAM that can be deleted. (Who needs to see the Welcome app more than once?)
