Hi all,

My battery life has dropped in my t-665 in the past few days. I used to get about 3 hours of life, now I get an hour.

Anyone else had these exerperince. Is there a solution?

Thanks

Beth

My first recommendation would be to let it drain all the way (until it shuts off on you).

Then let it charge for 12 hours.

See if that works.

i heard someone say freezing the battery might reverse the chemical process
look up the thread if u can.

I've heard of that freezing trick too, but thought it was only for ni-cad and ni-mh batteries.

Maybe a hard reset when fully charged and still connected to the charger?

a.) Check over your programs. Some use more power than others (lots of colors, fast screen actions, etc., for example.) Using the Memory Stick a lot also drains juice more quickly.

b.) Consider cleaning the PDA off to nothing, then reinstalling what you really use. There are often a bunch of junk bits on our PDAs that slow down the processing, using power.

c.) Do a soft reset while it is in the cradle to make sure the charging cycle is working correctly.

d.) Let it go low, then give it a nice long charge from something plugged into a wall outlet (a lot of travel chargers using USB don't provide a lot of recharging power).

e.) Get and carry an emergency charging option, like a portable battery recharger, just in case. I got a good 4AA charger off eBay for under $10.

You can purchase a new battery from http://www.cliebattery.com/
Its very easy to do yourself and the site has instructions and photos of the disassembly. george

Have you by any chance changed the case or done anything that might be allowing the various buttons to power the unit on when you're not aware of it? If this is an issue, there are some software solutions, including one called Power! that I've been using for awhile.

Have you checked your backlight? I normally keep mine all the way down and couldn't figure out why my battery was discharging so quickly until I discovered that it had been on high. That makes a huge difference.

How in the world you get 3 hours of usage on the T665  It usually last more than that. Follow madskin's instruction...that ought to help you.

I don't think draining the battery or bringing it to a low level and then charging it will be good for the battery.

That would work for those old Ni-Cad batteries, but for Li-Ion batteries, it won't. These new batts like to be kept charging, so that even at 90%, it would be good to charge it.

Be sure that the battery gets fully charged. The indicator light in your unit must turn off when it's fully charged. Sometimes, I even remove it after the light turns off and reinsert it to make sure that the battery is really juiced up.

Also, try getting used to power-saving tips like:
keeping your backlight to a minimum (this has the biggest effect on longevity),
keeping your system and game sounds to a minimum, and
keeping your beam receive off and turning it on only when you want to receive something.

stay cool.

I certainly agree with our guest.
