I was going thru the support site and saw a link for the Mobile Quick Tour. I clicked on it and it took me to this site:

Are they dumb? (OK, rhetoric question...) We can get all the advanced support we want right here at ClieSource...

P.S.: Sorry if somebody else posted this already, I did a search and did not find anything.

So they want you to pay money for what should have been included in the manual anyways? Most of the stuff I saw in the Free Guide was all sales pitch.

Geez..... remember that services like that aren't for the types of people who visit this message board. They're for the ignorant guy who doesn't know much about computers who bought this device but wants to know more about it (and doesn't want to have to search through online message boards, since he probably doesn't even know where to find them or how to use them well). It's also faster, probably. This is just like the people who said that the Palm Zire was really stupid since they have no use for it.

Geez! There are people who would actually like and benefit from this service. Not everyone enjoys reading manuals, or fooling around with computer stuff. Just because you have no use for it doesnt mean it's a dumb idea. You're not included in their target audience obviously.

Sorry.. sarcasm doesn't transfer well over the Internet. I've met a bunch of people who own a company's products (voluntarily) yet claim to "hate" the company.

I donīt hate Sony; I have tons of Sony products: TV, DVD, VCR, MP3 Player, and so on...
I just think that the materials Sony sent with both Clies I had (the N710 and now the NX70) are very thin in substance.
I also think they will make money, but I doubt they will go into great detail in anything. I just got upset because in my old Palm days, the manuals were somewhat complete and you wouldnīt have to spend extra money to learn to do something.
And I am sure exact answers to problems can be found here at ClieSource, even by a novice user.

nlode: Yes, anyone could find exact answers here, but many people don't even know that boards like these exist. Sony doesn't only sell their Clies to computer geek type people. A lot of people who don't know much about computers get them too. They probably wouldn't even want to go through a message board like this, if not for misunderstanding how it works. Yes, a complete novice probably could figure this out, but they're going to find it a lot more convenient, easy, and fast to use the paid Sony services than to search around for an online message board, sign up, figure out how to use, then post an message and have to wait a while for an answer. Yes, I would do that if I had a question about Clies, but not everyone who buys a Clie wants to do that. If they did, a WHOLE LOT more people would be in these forums. I mean, even before sony added services like this one, relatively few people came here to ask questions about problems they were having. A few hundred or thousands is not near the amount of people who own clies.

Sony's phone tech support is free...their flash site is basic, but answers most questions, and they have a support site for free...what more do you want for free? A personal tech in every box?
