I didn't get much of a response for this in the General forum, so I thought I'd try here. I'm thinking about getting a GPS unit for my car, one separate from my PDA. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should get?

I don't have any recommendations, since I haven't used any of them, but, based on my experience with GPS and my PDA, I'd recommend that one of the most important characteristics would be a display that is designed to be easily read in bright sunlight. My PDA screen is very very difficult to read in daylight. Voice prompts overcome that limitation somewhat, but a poor display is also a safety hazard, since it requires more time with your eyes off the road to read the desired information. Other factors would be simple, intuitive operation, for the same reason. The new Garmin C330 looks attractive to me, but, like I said, I haven't used one.

I guess it comes down to what you want to do with it, if you will ever take it out of the vehicle, etc.
I have a Garmine 60C and currently have it velcro'd to the dash. this works very well. I needed something portible because I hike and take it with me, so it had to be removable and easily carried.
I just ordered a proper dash mount, dc power and external antenna to add to this. Pay close attention to software needs, rerouting speeds. At 35mph, mine takes two short blocks to reroute when missing a turn. My bosses takes one long-block (about 10 residential streets) to reroute.
Memory needs for maps? Mine has 54meg which is about all of NM and part of Arizona in streetmaps, I haven't tried topomaps.

I would primarily be using the device in my car, only switching it from one to another. Right now I am looking at the TomTom GO 300: http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=76&Language=4 What do you all think?

Thanks for the response. I really like what I see with regards to TomTom. I am debating whether to get the GO 300, or take it up a notch and go for he GO 700. Any opinions?
