problems playing short mp3s

hi there, as i am a medicine student i tried to put some mp3 on my clie (heart beats 1-2sec). but i cant play them. i always get an error saying something about write protection. all my song mp3 work fine...

any suggestions?

What program are you using to create the mp3's? What are your settings?

For starters try 44.1KHz, 96kbps, no VBR, no MP3-Pro, and copy protect turned off. Do not use Sonic Stage or ATRAC3. I use Music-Match myself to rip the mp3's, but there are others.

Thank you, Larry! This has been a source of great frustration for me, and I need to re-rip all my old tracks since I went from NR to NX.

I use a free program called CD DA Xtractor, released under the GNU public license. It is excellent for all types of audio.
