Hi,

You probabaly noticed on your LD that the rubber buttons on the back of the LD come of due to the heat (I guess).
Mine started sliding and after a few days I took it off as I'm afraid to loose it.

Someone has a cool tip how to put it back on (in a clean way)?

Thanks,

Ton

I have the same problem!

Perhaps the smallest spot of superglue would work? Although it would make it later to take the back off - I don't intend on doing that any time in the future.

But might want to exchange battery in a few years time?

I just pulled the other one off and put the LD in a case.

Never have to look at the naked screwtop again.... problem solved :)

I used a spot of superglue around the rim, not where the nut is and it has stuck real well. Be sure to remove all trace of the sticky tape or it will not stay.

I put a spot of superglue on mine, but even still one just fell off the other day and I have no idea where it is! I figure anything that fragil isn't worth fiddling with - so I removed the other one! Now I'm happy! :)

The screws don't look that bad. And they are on the back! It's not like I have to look at them.

When my first one came off I pulled the other one off and threw it away. It was stupid to put them on there anway. They weren't going to last.

I often wonder what kind of "real-world" testing they do with some of these designs.

Glad it's not just me. Still, aside from the "feet," my LifeDrive has been remarkably durable - at least from a finish standpoint. After coming from an NX80, which scuffed if you so much as looked at it funny, after almost three months my LifeDrive still looks as good as new. True, I have a Palm Hard Case for it, but I'm not using a screen protector, and there isn't a single scratch in sight. Now, if only I could figure out how to get the LD to talk to my Moto E815...

Ditto.... The open screws don't bother me....

for those who wants to put them again in place, you can use some double-sided tape for fitted carpet (this one is really strong, the glue is an extra quality), of course, first clean the small piece of rubber, then, putit on the tape and cut the tape around it.
I know someone who did it, and it worked. I lost one, but doesn't matter for me. I don't look to the back, only to the screen :)

I lost mine on the left a few days after I got my LD. and have since taken off the other one as well. I wouldn't mind putting them back on properly, anyone know where to get spare feet to suit?

Strange.. but you realise that we all have the same problem here. Is everyone here using the "slide-in" cover or are you all using a 3rd party case? I think it has something to do with the way the slide in cover bumps against the rubber stubs that causes it to come off...

Anyone agree?

Perhaps the extra heat retained by the LD when in the hard case case is causing the glue to melt. I know it can't be the wear and tear from taking it in and out all the time, since I rarely ever take my LD out of the case.

Good theory but mine fell off a before I got the hard case. Although I would think they wouldn't have lasted with the hard case so...

Its a pity because generally speaking the LD is finished very well otherwise.

Certainly better than my old T\C which is currently on its 4th replacement from Palm. the only good thing is that each time they replace it for free.

Mine fell of while using the original case (the one that comes with the LD). The only concern I have is that when something breaks in my LD my warranty could be gone as the seller could easily say that I was opening it.

I remember the first Titanium Powerbooks had these same issues with the feet coming off after a while. Then the latest PB had feets that are locked in to the body and they stayed.

As for the LF, I find the rubber feet kept the LD off hard surfaces and the speakers project sound better. And they also helps the LD stay on smooth surfaces with some grip. Otherwise, it is okay without them.

One of mine came loose also about 1 month ago. I glued it in with Bond 527 Multi-Purpose Cement. It's durable, flexible, and quick drying! It has stayed in place since then. I do use the Palm leather carry case but usually do remove the LF from it once per day. I wanted to keep the rubber feet on it since it does keep the LF from sliding.

this thread is cursed!!! now that you've fallen into the trap of reading this thread, your LD feet are sure to drop off.

my LD feet were perfectly secure until i read this thread - then within 24hrs, i caught one of them making a desperate bid to slide off and the other one was also limbering up for it's escape too! i had no choice but to forceably remove and contain both, until i get some decent glue. ;)

My feet came off within 3 weeks and I never use a case (LD is thick enough already!)
i keep it in my front jeans pocket. The problem with the missing feet is more
than cosmetic. Without the rubber feet, the lifedrive has no friction on a smooth
tabletop and slides around. The feet sort of held it still while I wrote on it, and
they will be missed.

I wouldn't care about the absence of the rubber pads except that they lift the speaker off the surface below. If you put the LD down on a desk and want to listen to a podcast or something, it's muffled. The rubber pads lift the back just enough for nice, clear audio. So I'd love to replace the pads if I knew they wouldn't be falling off sometime soon.
