I've rambled about this before, but have you peeps noticed that when moving any of Dell's monitors, that they make the worst crackling noise. If you go up to an NEC, or pretty much any other plastic monitor they only make a minor creaking noise, but all of the Dells I've tried sound like breaking eggs. Their computers also do this, but not as bad since they're mostly metal. The notebooks are also really bad. But still, as far as I know, only Dells in peticular make this noise, and I'm assuming it's because they're cutting cost by using a really cheap plastic?

Blah, just a rant, and to be a complete hypocrite, I'm still going to buy a Dell LCD for my older desktop Mac and main PC; Something with a dual switch. Hey cheap plastic brings down cost, and its not my main screen so Dell's prices are very attractive. :)

ViewSonics are nice. This one has 1xDVI and 2 Analog ports :D
And you can rotate it into portrait mode! (Admittedly I've never used that for anything other than showing off, but it MIGHT be useful! One day! Maybe!)

my centiq is completely silent while moving. My Samsung is almost silent.... I'll have to check my dell at home. :)

So the consensus is... get a Centiq. The 21" at Siggraph looked nice, but my boss won't buy it for me....

Yeah, I like them. Before I bought my 30", I was looking at the 211B just for that portrait feature. :)

Does your screen support 3 computers? If so which screen? That feature would be awesome. I could plug my old Mac into the DVI, and the 2 PCs into the DB15 ports.

Droooool Cintiq. :) It all comes down to quality. You get what you pay for. Samsung and Wacom are definitely up there when it comes to quality.

My TI Book doesn't creak and I've dropped it. :)

Sorry, I'm a tard, I was relpying to Cyker's post on the first one, since he mentioned his screen has 1 DVI and 2 anolog, and yours on the seccond. Ye posted in when I was still typing away at me usual slug pace. :)

But it's a question that I wanted to konw about your screens also. I need to get my G4 back in commision. I haven't used it much, because the 22" CRT's fuzziness and shifting colors gives me eye-strain, so it must be replaced.

It's a horrid 87 F outside. My computers procs are averaging about 81.5 F for their temperature. They run hot.

It was 99F today.... move somewhere where heat is real. :)

My dell monitor doesn't creak much more than the work monitors... maybe I got lucky.

Only 99F, I'm sorry.  I would drop dead from that heat, especially since our AC is still broken.

My friend's office has all Dells, as do several of my friends. They're all creakers. :)

You get what you pay for in most cases.
