Please help if you can. This is used and worked great until it encountered a bit of water. It wasn't dropped in water, just had a small amount run over it from a sink.
It didn't work after that, but I allowed it to dry out completely. Then it only turned on and hung at the Palm Screen. Doing a soft and hard reset had no effect on it.
I left it on for a few days to drain the battery. When I powered it on, it worked great! Now, about one month later, we're all of a sudden having the same problem again.
The only way I can get it to power on is by doing a soft or hard reset. It hangs at the Palm Logo screen for about 5 minutes (I'm not exagerating here) then I'll hear the sound it makes when it goes to the startup. I go through the entire startup menu and it seems to work great... until I turn it off. I can turn it off with the button, but it won't turn back on without doing a reset. Then of course it has to sit on the splash screen for about 5 minutes before turning back on again.
PLEASE HELP if you can!
Thanks,
Justin

Looks like it's messed up. Have you tried to turn it off by software? And have you already tried to turn it on with another button other than the power one? Just in case there's a problem with the power hardware part. And did you already tried the hold mode? In case you need to have the palm working without waiting for the 5 min. startup... hold mode extends battery life a lot.
You know things got like that due to water reasons. It will be difficult to solve enterely your problem. All you can do is work around with software and hope it will continue functional...

No, I haven't tried that at all. Can you tell me how I would turn it on and off with software? I don't understand. Also, I don't think that any button other than the power button actually turns the clie on. At least I'm not aware of one that does.
I haven't tried the hold button, but I'll do that. Any more help would be appreciated.

The Datebook, To-Do, etc hard buttons turn it on.

I wonder if you still have water in the device.
Even if you have dried out the device in normal conditions you may still have some capilary reaction where water is drawn into very tight areas (such as ribbon cable connectors or between IC pins) by the surface tension and molecular cohesion of the water.
Normal drying might take forever where capilary reaction is the cause because the actual surface area (by which it dries) from the column of water is only a few microns to a millimeter across even though it may be quite deep.
IF this is the case then you would need to take the device apart and allow all components to dry before putting it back together again. You could also try leaving it in a plastic bag with some silicon crystals.
IF this is not your problem it sounds as if there was a short circuit and something got damaged. Possibilities could either be the ram was damaged or the ROM image became corrupt.
Personally I would open up the device, remove all cables and allow it to dry fully without switching it on again until after it has dried. I would pack it in an air tight container with silicon crystals or other drying materials. An airgun might help speed the process.

You can try datebook button or todo as said and try to get an application where you can turn off the palm by touching the screen rather then using buttons, like the today applications, or just let the time run so it switches off by itself. Does the palm act different when you turn it off without using buttons and turning it on using other buttons than power?

Thanks for the help. Still nothing. It won't turn on with any button, not even the power. What is strange is that it didn't work after it saw the water, but after I let the battery drain all the way, it worked fine for about 1 month. Then it started to have problems. I've taken it apart and see no water. I'll try to leave it apart with some crystals to dry it out I guess. Hope it helps, otherwise I'll have to junk it and get a new one.
What's wierd is that to turn it on I have to reset it. It hangs at the Palm Screen for at least 5 minutes, then powers on. If I turn it off, I can't get it back on other than to reset it.
