Maybe there is something here that may help. I still believe the driver is needed.

I just spoke to Sony (I was on the phone for almost 1 hour) according to the rep I spoke with this is a known issue with the 1gig stick. They are working on a patch to correct the problem, and hope to have one out soon.

We just have to wait for the driver because with out it there is no way to copy files from the pc to the stick.. bummed big time... it works in the clie but that is it... I need to copy my smaller stick to my larger one and I can not do that without the driver... I do not know how others are managing to format the stick on there PCs when my pc will not recognize the stick... pissed...

The NZ driver at the Sony site seems to be a broken link... the MGMSPTCH.PRC file seems not to be there... ARGGGGH

it's there....

http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/bin/support/support.cgi?whichone=1&installfile=mgmsptch.txt&downloadfile=MGMSPTCH.PRC&loc=2

but it does not solve the pro problem... it is for magicgate

What I mean is after you click on the Accept button the link breaks... and the pro sticks are MagicGate. Because of this I can not get to that file...

If you're really in a hurry, you can consider buying Sony's Memory Stick Reader (MSAC-US20) since it has native support of Memory Stick Pro.
