Im afraid I do not know much about MACs.

I have a T625c (Euro 615 version) connected to my PC. A friend after seeing my Clie wants one, and has the opportunity to buy a 2nd hand T625c.

He has a MAC running OS 9.0 and 9.1 on his laptop. At present he has a Handspring which connects OK.

My Question is.
Will a 625 connect and sync to a MAC with OS 9.x installed and is there anything extra he needs to get to make it happen.

Thanks

it will work out of the box in OSX. If het still uses OS9, he has to buy missing sync. (http://www.markspace.com/missingsync.html). I once had the 625 and i use OSX. i still suggest buying missing sync, it is more stable, you can mount the mstick etc.... it's about 30 $

I use a 615C and Mac OS 9.2, and I am able to sync just fine using the standard software that came with my m505. I'd try it first and see how it goes before splashing out on more software!

Goodluck!

every clié without DSP (mp3) works out of the box in osx (some in OS9). I really suggest buying the missing sync, the sync process is more stable, you can mount the stick, you have itunes/iphoto plugin etc. he can start without the drivers...

I might go and have another look at Missing Sync - I don't suppose you can download a trial version can you?

I also use my digital camera as a kind of card reader, which also enables me to transfere files Palm Desktop won't let me. I guess that's kinda cheating isn't?

Thanks for all the replies.

The guy has ordered the Clie and in the next few days or so I'm going to help him install it!!

Your right Vince I can't download a trail of Missing Sync, which seems a shame. So we are going to try it without first.

Thanks again

An Update

Last week I downloaded the Mac Desktop 2.6.3 and we were able to sync the Clie without any problems to the Mac OS 9.1.

The Clie in question does have have a MS so we are leaving out 'missing sync' for the time being.

Many thanks for your comments and advice - It gave me the confidence to have a go.

How about the .MQV files produced by the Clie NX70V camera? Is there anything that can transcode or import them on OSX? (Really, the important thing is to get them into iMovie, so I suppose anything that makes quicktime will do...)

A little research (and a web purchase) later, and I've learned:
(1) the clie records in mpeg-4
(2) mpeg-4 is based on the latest quicktime
(3) the quicktime player will (as mentioned here) play the .MQV files, but that's all it will do
(4) if you upgrade to quicktime pro, you can export as mpeg-4, which should leave it unchanged, and then Final Cut Express will import the result
(5) iMovie won't import mpeg-4, but probably imports one of the dozen other formats that QuicktimePro "export" will generate.

To get the .mqv files into iMovie:

1. Using Missing Sinc with the Clie in the cradle;
2. Drag your .mqv files onto the desktop;
3. Drag the files on the desktop onto an open iMovie window.
