It doesnt look like a very good machine. For about $2409 (I think its 25% more than your price) more, I was able to get an acer Ferrari 4000. Most centrino machines comes with ddr2 ram, and not pc2700 ram. Also, it uses a p4, which means weak battery life. If I were you, I would shop around first and if you still like this machine, then go for it.

If you plan on using it in your home only, the HP zd8000 series would probably be a better choice. If you plan on using it on the go, choosing a centrino or turion machine would be a much better choice.

I am going to another town to colage. As I will live in student hostel i need some laptop.
Price of amilo d1845 is $1400 without OS.

It is hard to buy a good laptop in my country because we have smaller offer. For example i can't find acer Ferrari 4000 in our stors (just ferrari 3400LMI)

Based on the fujitsu site, am I right to assume you live in the UK?

The Ferrari 3400 may fit your budget a little better, but it also has weak battery life. Unless it uses a centrino or turion (and in some cases sempron) processor, a laptop will have weak battery life.

You may want to buy on the web. Dell, for example, is an online only company (although there are the occasional stores that carry a dell) and they make very good laptops that are fairly priced for the most part. Almost every week they will have a special offer and since its close to start of another school year, they should have some great deals.

Also, check out your campus stores. Your campus should have a decent selection laptops and since you are a student, some laptops have special student discounts for your needs.

Since you will be living on campus, you may want to consider getting an apple ibook or powerbook. Why? Apple laptops are very secure, thin and light. It makes travelling around, and working on campus very easy. However, Apple laptops are a little more expensive and if you plan on playing games, you would not want an Apple computer.

I live in Croatia, so buying on internet wouldn't be so clever (in case in need them to repair my laptop).
The strongest apple that i could find in my town is 1.5 Ghz :(

Take a look on this shop and please give me your opinion Here (http://www.ve-mil.hr/cjenik.aspx?GrupaOznaka=prijenrac&PodgrupaId=0&Proizvodjac=&CijenaOd=5000&CijenaDo=10000)

Can you get me an english version of the page?

A lot of the laptops on that page look worst than the fujitsu (based on specs alone). Any computer with only 256mb of ram will probably have trouble handling many of the newer programs out (just booting up my laptop alone uses about 200mb of ram, leaving about 56mb to work with if I had 256mb). If I had to choose from that page, I would go with the acer Aspire 5021. For battery life (also depends on the battery size), along with decent performance, I would go with the HP nc6120. But when it comes to choosing any computer, you would have to know what you are going to use it for. I got an acer Ferrari 4000 for the fact that I want to run some of my high demanding games.

As for your choices, I would actually go with the 1.5ghz powerbook. Dont be fooled by the speed of the processor, 1.5 ghz is good for an apple laptop. It is a medium powered machine from Apple. Unless you really need the extra power of a 1.67ghz apple laptop, 1.5ghz should be powerful enough to handle most of your work. You would only really notice a difference if you need to handle heavy tasks like video editing.

All clock speeds are not created equal. A G4 1.5 may be slower than a 3GHz Pentium 4, but not all that much. Centrino (Pentium M) CPU's also run at lower clock speeds (1.5 to 2 GHz), but are as fast as Pentium 4-based notebooks CPU's. This gives them better battery life and less heat generation than an equivalent Pentium 4.

One great feature about Apple notebooks is their great sleep mode. Close the lid, and the computer shuts off everything but RAM, and goes into a very energy-efficient sleep mode (will last for days). Open up the lid, and the computer springs back to life. It pretty much duplicates 'instant on', which is one great feature of PDA's.

I don't know how prices are in Croatia, but the Apple iBooks are very good deals. The PowerBooks are beautiful though, with absolutely great keyboards (I own one.)

I also have a Centrino Acer TravelMate (for work), which is a good, functional unit.

Unless the laptop is very old, most laptops should give you this feature.
