I recently purchased the application Delorme Street Atlas 2005 Handheld for my Tungsten T running PalmOS 5.0. After purchasing I noticed that it said sound will not work unless running PalmOS 5.2?! I found this very interesting. So I start looking around on the internet and found several applications that say they require PalmOS 5.2. Among these was Pocket Tunes. I was like WTF?! because I use Pocket Tunes on my Tungsten T running 5.0. Upon closer inspection I see that the requirements are PalmOS 5.2 OR Tungsten T.
So all the got me thinking what is the difference between PalmOS 5.2 sound and Tungsten T sound? Was the PalmOS 5.0 that was installed on the Tungsten T programmed with the Tungsten T in mind so that sound would work and is Delorme on crack saying it won't work when it actually will and that they just need to write a patch?
*or*
Is there some other underlaying factor that I don't know about that makes PalmOS 5.2 the only true OS that their products Voice Prompts will work on?
If anyone has some insight that would be great. I am preparing to send a letter to Delorme to try and get them to do something about it, but I wanted to hear from people that know the OS and the interworks better then I.
Thanks!
