Looks like it might be a very nice application.

From the site:

DataViz plans to release Beyond Contacts within the next few weeks. Once Beyond Contacts is released, your credit card will be charged. You will then be e-mailed a registration number and activation key along with the link to download the product. To reserve your copy of Beyond Contacts, please click on the link below.

Handheld requirements:

- Palm OS 3.5 or higher
- 1.6 MB free handheld memory, plus additional space for records

Better be good for that 1.6mb of space. Especially when you only have 11mb available:p Might be able to run it from flash though, we'll see.

I will leave out all the "beyond ...." jokes. it looks pretty nice but damn expensive. $40 seems like too much to pay for any palm OS app. I also hope the app lets you do something about those icons on the left side of the screen. they take up a third of the screen!

I tried a beta of this program. It's a good start, but I hope that they do a lot more work on the program before it is released.

I like the concept, and the fact that DataViz is entering this market, but there are plenty of f;aws right now.

Andrew and I have been discussing this offline. It's a good start but it has some gaping holes that will prevent me from recommending it unless DataViz has some serious tricks up their sleeve. Big items missing so far (personal opinion only - your concerns may vary):

1. No Hi-res+ support. The display is nice but you can't minimize VG for that extra real estate like you can in Agendus.

2. No unified view of datebook and To Do items - you have to toggle back and forth.

3. Really scary installer. BC uses it's own conduit and turns off whatever conduits you have in place (DesktopToGo in my case) for syncing with Lookout! (er, Outlook). This would be OK if the installer actually *told* you it was going to do that.

4. Andrew (and other testers) report duplication of dB entries. I haven't experienced that myself.

On the plus side:

1. This is the closest anyone has come to an Outlook UI on the Palm OS so it's very familiar from the start.

2. They've added (in beta 3) a new mail app which is critical if you're using Outlook as your mail client.

3. DataViz has always (for me anyway) been a good company to work with. Their apps are solid and their upgrades always seem to have a good cost/benefit ratio.

Summary: I don't think version 1.0 is going to meet my needs but I'm definitely staying in the loop on this one.

Does anyone have a release date on this product yet? I'm very excited about trying it out.

It seems that this page has expired.
What is this program, anyway?

No release date announced yet. Basically, this is an attempt to create MS Outlook on the Palm. It has a very similar look and feel to Outlook and synchronizes with Outlook on the desktop. See my earlier post above for a mini-review and wish list.

Sounds like a replacement for their Desktop To Go app.
