Okay I have an SJ30 and a new Nokia 6100 which is now configured to connect via GPRS for wap browsing.

How do i set up the sj30 to use the GPRS setting instead of DIALING the internet ?

I already have it dialing but I want to use the new faster GPRS setting.

I think the clue in in the network preferences options on my clie... but I can't work it out.

Help please.

I beleive you just tell your palm to dial *99# - with no username or password.
I have a 6590, and it works for me! Also, this info was gathered from chapter 10 of the user guide:

Good Luck!

Okay... just tried all that with no luck... the *99# thing seems to be ignored and the connection is not dialed.
Looking to see if I can get the equivalent document for my (6100) phone.

found that.... but it's useless... says enter the number of your ISP. But if you have GPRS surely you don't actually DIAL a number !

Sure, you have to dial a number. It is usually, as joekewl writes, something like *99#.
You have to contact your cellphone operator (or visit their home page) to get the right settings for the prefs/network in your Clie.
The one I use (Radiolinja in Finland) has the number *99***1# and requires a primary DNS in "network"/"details". Some operators have an automatic dns. Mine also requires a login name and a password.

You also have to make a setting in your Nokia "settings for GPRS" for the active connection point (I'm translating from Swedish, don't know if it is the same in English). Your operator has a name for the connection point you have to fill in.

Good luck!

Be sure you also enable the IR receiver on your Cel Phone!

yeah like i said... I already have a connection set up for internet access... via a dialup connection from my palm through the IR port... so i know that works... that has always worked.

I have emailed Orange (my opperator) to tell them to send me info on the gprs network and give me the code i need to dial up.

Thanks for the help.

have you found out anything about it? I have the same problem...
exept for that if you turn off and on your 6100 then you can make one call with *99# and palm even gets to "signing in" but then it says network configuration is incorrect. on the nokia, the must be a 11-2-1-1 menu command made (gprs settings, only when necessary or something like it). however, after it, I cannot dial again...

just solved... many days and many letters to my provider, to palm, to nokia, I've found out you have to enter a space for username and password and hops, it works. I'm surfing with my clie next to my desktop. *cheers*
