Just wondering, does anyone have a resource (or any idea) of the parts on the UX50's motherboard? I have seen pictures and have opened it myself. I just need some labels. More specifically, I need to know where the Bluetooth interface is and where the Wifi interface is.

The area that has the wholes in it is where the WiFi interface would be.

Now if only someone had a map of the TG50 motherboard, I could fix mine... :(

I miss it so much. I liked internal bt on a 320x320 screen, imagine 480x320 :D

I think I'll stick with my NX80 for now, though, cause I have a battery charger and it can last as long as I have 4 AA bateries :D

Anyone have a problem where the BT just refuses to find any devices?? This was sort of the underlying reason for me starting this thread.

just a follow up...yes i have made sure of the simple things (i.e., Making sure another BT device is within range and has BT turned on or "Find me" enabled). Also tried the hard reset. However, the BT still doesn't find anything. It also seems to be crashing my device....when I try and say dial a number or something from the address book.

Try removing the battery and connecting it again. That usually fixes a number of isses. I have problems with my WiFi though. I used to have problems with my BT. BT initialization errors. After doing the battery removal then battery application, the issue went away.

Thanks, but I have tried that before Jamerican. Guess I could try it again to see if it works this time. Is there a certain period of time you should wait before reconnecting the battery?

No you don't have to wait for any specific period of time. I guess your BT might be dead. My WiFi is dead. I've tried eveerything and have been unsuccessful. I look at my device as a UX40 now. You should look at your device as a UX55/U. Sorry it sucks but thats life. All you can do is buy another UX and take the board out of it or use that as your main device.

Yeah...you're right, so is life. I look at the bright side though, I can still play music, videos, and use other things. BT and Wifi aren't everything...sniff sniff. Anyway, I think I might risk bidding on a UX for parts on ebay...been keeping my eye on a couple of units.

Maybe you can get a MSB1 Bluetooth Memorystick.

Do you really need Bluetooth? It is expensive ($100), and a hassle. It is big, too. And uses your only card slot, my NX has a CF slot, so its not a problem, but it might be for you.

To be truthful with myself, I don't need any of it...it's just a luxury. I use the Clie primarily as a PIM, then for entertainment. I just hate when I become limited with anything I own. I will survive though. Thanks for the advice though! :o

mjpoetic, its not worth bidding on ebay for a UX. I did and I got a UX with a dead motherboard but I luckily got a UX with a screen that doesn't whine or have scratches on it. I got mine for $105. Just deal with not having BT. Sorry it had to be this way. I still have no WiFi and really I don't care anymore.

That's too bad JAmerican. There are some good UX50s on eBay, just at a $300+ price tag.

Yeah...I actually saw a couple for parts that described everything as working but the backlight as not working. I should've bid on those. Then again, I have done just fine without Wifi and BT. So I will probably be heeding your advice JAmerican.

I got mine on ebay as well... all was in working order -- like new, but I did pay the price for the quality.

I think hewuld have either replaced the motherboard or the screen. Depnding on which device would be his main one. I switched my screen and couldn't be happier. I also took out the battery and placed it in my current device and I'm amazed at how much power this battery can hold. It was due to the battery was dead when I got it. This battery seems to hold a charge for as long as my TH55 because I've been using my device with music and BT for almost an hour and I'm at 75%. My TH battery would be at 80% but due to it alternates so much, I would have had issues with it.
