Hello,

I've been just testing the last beta version (0.9.0) of the program PADict, you can find here (0.3.3)

http://padict.sourceforge.net/

At the moment, 2 programmers are working on this project, and in the last beta versions, some support for the TH55 was added -> the DIA (Virtual Silk) can now be automatically removed in order to have a full-screen results list.

It's a great program for all those of us who try to learn japanese or use japanese-english (or other languages) dictionary with kanji recognition software.

At the moment, they need more programming power, so new versions can be released sooner and I wonder wether there's someone here interested on putting some effort on it and help developing this program giving it more and better support for the TH55's "not so standard api" or any other help they wish to provide. After all, as the TH55 and its sdk was discontinued, we're the only ones left (users) to help having better software and support for this wonderful pda.

It is a wonderful program! I use it daily.

Sorry I can't offer anything in the way of help myself but if they need support - I'm firmly with them.

BTW - it works very well on a T3 and a Zodiac

Glad to know you like it. Just testing would help us - please visit PADict site and register yourself into the Sourceforge developers list so you get notified about news and movements with this program (new releases, etc). Thanks!

Hi Didi_o, also glad to know you like it - but I am not one of the developers. Just one who thinks the same as you - it's the best japanese learning program. And it'd be nice if it has more support, specially after the last versions specifically supports the TH55 screen. It's not an easy job to program it and it'd be nice if we could get a little bit more help from here. The TH55 is the best pda and wouldn't expect less from its users! ;)

Hello,
I am one of those 2 programmers that Ayu mentioned, in fact the only one who has been active recently as Lars the other was preparing his Ph.D. thesis.
I appreciate your support, I apologize if new versions don't come more often but as mentioned we are very few working and with the constraints of real life (paying work, family, this kind of things...) it has been hard to put in much time on the program.

Hopefully Lars will be able to help more in a short time which will at least allow to update the latest posted dev version to the current development level which has been improved more since the last posted version (including better support for DIA).

In addition a lot of the work being done before the next version (1.0, hopefully by christmas) is to clean up the code and separate it in well defined libraries to make it easier to extend and to maintain. This does not show immediately in terms of new features but it will help much in the long run.

If any of you are interested in being mailed the latest dev version please contact me
benoitcerrina "at" yahoo.fr
I will mail it but I will expect some kind of feedback on the changes made.

Thanks for the support
Best regards
Benoit
