Zlauncher tab question

I have my tabs set to show icons (to take up less space) but there's one thing I don't like about it. I'm using beta1, so I can have the tabs on the side. This is wonderful in space saving, but there's one problem with it, there's not enough room to show the whole title of the tab. I'd like it to just show the icon, like when it's not active. If the tab is active, I have to either have it show nothing at all or the first three letters of the tab. Is there anyway to have the tab just show the icon, whether it's active or not?

Under Display Setup, check 'Auto Hide Tab Captions.

Now the only time you'll see the caption is on the 'active' tab. It won't show an icon either.

Is that what you want to do??

No, I want JUST an icon when not selected, and JUST an icon when selected, either way. I don't want it to be completely blank when selected, as with the hide caption option.

I don't think there is currently a way to hide the caption on the active tab unless you change the tab title to a "space". Since you can't have tabs with the same name you would need to increase the space count for each tab.

Don't know if this helps, but it worked for me. :)

i know exactly what you're talking about, because i've been trying to do the same thing, and i can't figure it out.

when you have just the icons showing, and you select the tab, then it either has the caption, or it is completely blank (no icon) when you use the hide caption option. you want it to have NO caption, rather have the icon still showing when the tab is selected, right?

i don't think there's a way to do it. you used to be able to, and maybe in the final release that will be taken care of...

You are kidding, right? Try to doubletap on the tap. Now try to select "Hide caption".

you know what i just figured out? it works correctly with the tabs on top, but not on when you have the tabs on the side as i do, and i'm assuming the original poster did.

okay, the last two unregistered posts were from me. since i have a lot of free time today, here is an illustrated version of what we are trying to explain (i only have a low res device :( ):

exhibit a:
everything is normal when tabs are on top. when unselected you see an icon, when selected you also see an icon:

Contact ZZTECHS and I can almost promise you that it will be in the next update.
Just want to let some of you guys know, ZLauncher is thinking of making the tabs resizeable to a users comfort. Should solve lots of problems when that is done. I know this based on an e-mail I sent them since I am a beta user.

I already asked them this. ZZtech designed it so that the icon would not appear on the active side tab. They said that it took up too much room and the text wouldn't fit. So, the icon is disabled on the active tab so that more of the text will be displayed. It works, but some like yourself may prefer just the icon. Maybe they'll provide an option if enough people ask. I don't use tabs at all so it doesn't matter to me at this point.

Sorry, that was me earlier. Don't know why I wasn't logged in. Anyway, ZZTech folks are very accomodating. The file manager file list rescan rewrite wasn't trivial, but they did that in just a week or so.

In the final release, if you uncheck "auto hide tab caption" and
check "hide caption", the active tab will display the icon without
