I have a question for the Palm developers here (hopefully a few of you are using Bluetooth on your Clies) ....
I'm just getting started with my TG-50, and will be setting up bluetooth Internet access in my house (via my cable modem through a desktop), at work, and through a GPRS-enabled phone.
It's my understanding (perhaps I'm mistaken) that Internet access this way works like a standard dial-up connection on the Palm itself - so one of your connections will always be the primary one.
Since GPRS rates are still a bit cost prohibitive on T-Mobile, what I was wondering was this -- how hard would it be to write a small app that could dynamically reconfigure your networking settings (i.e.: which is the primary networking configuration to use) based on which Bluetooth devices were in range?
For example - if I'm at home, I would obviously want my Clie to prefer my home-based bluetooth Internet access. As soon as I step out of the house, I'll need it to use my t68i. Obviously, I can do this manually - but it seems like it would be great if the device could intelligently do it for me.
Seems as though it should just be a few logic checks (i.e.: which predefined bluetooth devices are available?) and then minor twiddling with the network configs (i.e.: ok, use this networking setup now) ... just needs to stay in the background and keep an eye on things.
Any thoughts??
Thanks! (apologies in advance if I've totally misunderstood how Bluetooth networking works)
