View Full Version : TG50 & Graffiti Anywhere

I've been using my new TG50 since last week, going back and forth between the keyboard and using GA. I'm a long-time graffiti user but couldn't resist the TG50 (don't ask me why).
Anyway, the only major annoyance I have is when I am using GA. Whenever I try to do a graffiti "caps shift" (vertical stroke from bottom to top), it always triggers the graffiti help screen instead of giving me caps mode.
Any ideas how to get around this problem?

Use a really short (and I mean short) vertical stroke. It took awhile to get the technique down but it works most of the time, (except when I accidentaly tap the screen to hard and create symbols rather than letters or numbers or when I accidentaly stroke part of my letters in the number area and don't get anything).

You might think about trying out Jot. I know I konw its not free but the virtual graffiti is seamless. Download a demo and try it out.

genglish, I totally agree with you and in fact was going to make a similar post. I noticed you can't turn off the graffiti stroke shortcut feature and it is SO annoying. I set mine to brightness adjustment but its really hard to capitalize a letter.
Other annoying part of Graffiti Anywhere is that it does not allow for punctuation. neither does newpen. I wonder why someone can't just implement punctuation, is it so hard?

Guys Jot does punctuation and lets you use Graffiti instead of Jot if you want. Just an FYI

My suggestion to do caps using GA is doing a short stroke up from the bottom of the screen. that work well for me.

GA lets me do punctuation exactly as I would do it in the graffiti area. Just a dot and then the stroke for whatever symbol you want. A period is a double tap. GA handles this fine for me.

Can anyone post a screenshot with the graffiti up?

Here's my tip for CAPS on Graffiti Anywhere-- start a little higher on the screen when you do the caps upstroke. I kept getting the same problem you are having, until I realized that I had to do the caps upstroke very high on the screen instead of in the middle of the screen. Works perfectly now.
I'm a graffiti user, too, and Graffiti Anywhere has made the TG50 a much better device for me.

Great! The "short" and "top of the screen" tips seem to have solved my problems. I can pretty consistently get the caps shift to work now.
Thanks to all.

about making punctuation, i figure that you have to use a "comma" style stroke.
For making shift, i use a upward stroke which is 2 input line long. I just figure out making the shift stroke on the top just help you to limit your stroke length.
BTW, i set the upward graffiti stroke to be toggle backlit, the i don't have to click the stupid ok to get back to my doc...

I am currently trying out TealScript 3.0 and I believed I would use this instead of my old time favourite GA.
More customisation that suits my needs.

Turn off Single Tap recogniton in the activation options. Then punctuation taps are recognised. With Singe Tap recognition turned on you have to make a stroke from bottom right to top left; but then the punctuation itself it hard to capture (for me). The readme file with GA explains the options.
Hope this helps

I am using 1.3.1 too (just downloaded today)
Go to the middle "Activation" tab and in the middle of the screen, remove the tick against "single tap recognition"

you know what?
I found out that option is not avaliable, when i choose to use "press-n-hold" style to activiate it.
now that i use short click, i see the option now...
wonder why they disable this for press-n-hold.....
