View Full Version : HiRes+ Eye-candy?

When I'm at my desk at work, I almost always have my NX70 sitting in its cradle next to my monitor. It's rather boring to just have the launcher or DateBk5 sitting there when I'm not actively using my Clie.
What eye-candy sort of apps are there that I could have it run while I'm not using it? I can (and sometimes do) run image slideshows using AcidImage, but what else could I use to liven things up?
Criteria: It has to be non-interactive, it has to be pretty, and animated would be a plus (because I can already display still images with AcidImage or ZLauncher!).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I use pocket aquarium when my clie is sitting in its cradle. looks incredible. You might also find a nice flash movie that fills up the whole screen and loop it

often times I either run the Casio watch face in MegaClock as a kind of desk clock or I use Pocket Aquarium
i generally use splashclock but this pocket aquarium has me curious!
For the life of me I cannot remeber where I saw them, but there was a contest for creating apps/visuals of certain sizes and that had some cool ongoing graphical displays that could be run. I looked, but cannot find a link in my favorites and I know I would have saved it:(

I think I remember that. They had to meet certain footprint requirements. It was some kind of ongoing contest or something, but I have no idea where it was.

Cool beans. Checked out the site and that's definitely what I was thinking about. Some of the apps struggle on my NZ90, but they're worth checking out.

My favorite eye-candy is Mandala, a kaleidoscope program, here:
http://www.bentmachine.com/palm/index.html
You can set it to run automatically but it's also fun to tinker with manually created kaleidoscopes.

Well, I have a T665C so for me, Mandala is great <g>. I enjoy diddling with the manual kaleidoscopes and doing screen captures.
I need to reregister it. The problem with Mandala is the developer doesn't have a good registration system in place - if you pay for it, there's no way to enter a registration number - you continue to get a "please register at Palmgear" response when you hit "Register".
I was trying to find out why I hadn't received a registration code and before I heard back from the developer, Handango credited me the purchase price. And I definitely think it's worth paying the few dollars for.

hey Anita,
does that "Kaleidascope" program run on Palm OS 5?? I can't read anything on the site ...they use an italic choppy aliased font that is hurting my head to try and read the specs!!
why would they use such a horrible font???

I don't know if it's OS5. It just says OS 3.5 and above in the readme. The guy's pretty responsive to e-mail tho. . .
Oh (editing this) - checked Palmgear. Palmgear says it's OS5 compatible.

If you don't mind messing around with .lzh compression, this one is fascinating. The graphics interact with your stylus. The web site and program are Japanese, but it's easy to figure out.
I like the one where the little worms follow your stylus.
