I finally discovered streaming music from my computer to my LifeDrive the other day. Very cool. The only problem is that, of course, your computer has to be on.

This is a total newbie question, but is there any such thing (I'm sure there is) as a stand alone hard drive that plugs directly into a home network, sans computer? It would be nice to have a central storage drive, to be able to access my entire music collection from anywhere in the house, and not have to leave the computer on all the time.

Seems like such a beast should exist, but I don't even know where to begin looking for it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks -

It always happens that after days of fruitless searching, I ask the question and then find out (most of) the answer myself.

Okay, there are dedicated network drives out there. The next question is - is there anything necessary to using one to stream audio to a LifeDrive? I have the wifi router, obviously. Would I just hook the ethernet cable from the network drive to the router and that's it? It can be accessed then? Anyone have any experience with such a setup and their palm?

You can always take an old computer and make a newtwork drive on it for your music/audio and just leave it your basement or closet.

Isn't there some sort of iPod acessory to stream music?

Do you also realise that the Lifedrive has a 4gb hd? lol. But streaming music is cooler though.

I do have an old computer that I was considering to do exactly that, but leaving a computer running all the time takes a good bit of electricity - far more than a dedicated hard drive.

My LD is chock full o' goodness. Mostly music, but also movies, audio books, etc. And since my music collection certainly won't fit in 4Gb, it would be nice to have it all on demand whenever I'm home.
