Given that MS Pro are about twice the price of CompactFladh Cards of the same capacity, does anybody have a sense of how far the MS Pro prices will fall and how soon? Many thanks.

Basically every IT product that hits the market will experience a significant price drop at its initial stage. But MS Pro is from Sony. That may be the difference.

You see, MS itself is slower than CF, less popular than CF, but its price is still more expansive than CF. It seems that the market mechanism does not work well, just because MS is from Sony: Sony is the major manufacturer of MS and its whole line of products ranging from DV to DC to Clie use MS. That's the fact.

MS Pro is quite similar. Of course, there are now other manufacturers that produce MS Pro, e.g. Lexar and SanDisk. If these manufacturers have a high profile selling their MS Pro and have a significant price cut, the price of MS Pro will eventually drop. Otherwise it will remain at the price of around twice the price of CF.

Thanks for the reply, ngwailung. I've been noticing, however, that
128M CompactFlash cards go for abt $35-55, and so do 128M MS
if one searches for good prices. So i was thinking that the same
may happen with MS Pro. I hope so; spending more on a 1G MS Pro
than on my TG50 seems a bit much.

Does anybody have any idea how long before one might hope for
prices to fall seriously on MS Pro?

Many thanks.
