View Full Version : Uh oh... LD Won't Pull Out of a Hard Reset

I just did my first hard reset this morning. After getting the old LD into a stable configuration at last, I just needed to delete one bizzare corrupt file that my old computer stuck on the hard drive (long story in itself - essentially the file could not be deleted by any method, computer-based or otherwise) - so I figured a hard reset should put everything together nicely. The reset was fine. The reload was fine. After the reload, it said I had to do a soft reset, fine. But it never pulled out of that soft reset. I'm sitting here staring at the "Palm Powered" logo.

Any ideas, short of another hard reset? Soft resets just cycle it through and get stuck again.

you probably tried this but a 'warm' reset??

I might do that next. I had to hard reset, since nothing else was happening, and before the reload I could at least confirm that the corrupt file I was trying to get rid of was gone. So at least one thing is good.

I'm reloading right now. If it still doesn't work, I'm going to warm reset.

Hi,

Reloading from where? From the PC? It's risky, to say the least. The hotsync doesn't back everything up, so you might end up with an incomplete configuration. If you restore from a "onboard" backup application, you should be fine.

Greetings,
Laurent

A second hard reset worked. Not sure why it was needed, but it worked and everything came through fine, with the exception of some photos I forgot to backup.

I reloaded from the PC, yes. It worked every time with my T2, so I didn't even think it might screw up this time around. I have a backup program and didn't even think to use it. Me not so smart. Still, alls well that ends well.

Why will you need to perform 2 Hard resets before the LD comes back to life??? Watch out the apps you have in there.... its not normal.....I never happened to perform 2 HD on any of my palm OS:)
