Has anyone made a cable to connect a TG50 to a Garmin GPS (etrex in my case) ? I thought I understood, but I just cant seem to get it working.

Here's what Ive done :

Im using a USB/hotsync cable and Ive taken apart the 18 pin connector to solder
the garmin cable on to.

Ive connected as follows :

Garmin data out -> PDA RXD (pin 13)
Garmin data in -> PDA TXD (pin 14)
Garmin -ve -> PDA GND (pin 1/18)
PDA DTR (pin 12) -> +7V from batteries (just to be sure although I believe pin 10 would also do)

Im trying to get it working with Pathaway, which consistently reports
"CTS:off, RTS:off, DSR:off". Im not quite sure what it means by this,
but it sure doesnt see the GPS data.

I can also see the periodic bursts of data on pin 13 on a scope, so I know the data's arriving.

I have also tried connecting CTS pin 15 and RTS pin 16 to +7V, but to no avail.

Have I done something wrong, it all seemed straightforward until I actually tried it !

Any help/experience/guidance would be great ! ....
