I am having problems with the hotsync.
First I have used remove programs including third party software. cleaned it completly out (this is after I tried everything I could think of, also this has been working all along, not sure what the heck happened.)
when it hotsyncs it will not sync all the info including lifemanager.
It reads:
Missing
C:\Progra~\PalmOne\PACKAG~\NPInstal.dll'
cannot find and have looked everywhere I could but hoping I just missed it
thanks Dr

have you tried reinstalling the program into your computer? looks like it didn't copy that file when it was installing. try uninstalling then reinstalling the cd that came with your LD

Thanks, but did that a lot, still get the same thing cannot find that particular file. I even wiped the palm software completely then tried the T5 cd and it stated the same thing so it has to be something in my computer that is causing it to skip the file.

I am assuming what you did was: Uninstall the existing Palm software, and all associated third part software, deleted the contents C:\Program Files\PalmOne directory including subdirectories, and then reinstalled the Palm desktop software that came with your LifeDrive.
From your other thread (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93508):[...]this is what it states.
C:\PROGRA~1\palmOne\PACKAG~1\NPInstal.dll' was not found. Notifiers are used by HotSync Manager to inform other applications about synchronizations sessions. Please check your configuration to correct this problem.
What happened: You missed uninstalling some third party application, or there was no uninstaller for some third party application, that you had installed. This third party software had registered a Notifier. Notifiers are DLL that are executed during the Hotsync process to notify other applications that the Hotsync process is taking place. When you deleted the C:\Program Files\PalmOne directory, you deleted the Notifier DLL, but yet it was still registered. When you installed the new desktop software, it saw the Notifier entry and assumed it was still there.
How to fix: If you know what this Notifier was associated with, reinstall it. I assume not. So, instead do it again:
Uninstall all third party desktop Palm software.
Uninstall the Palm desktop software.
But before reinstalling the new desktop software:
Run the Registry Editor, Start, Run, "Regedit"
Local the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics"
Delete this entire key.
Now reinstall the new Palm Desktop software.

Sorry about that. The procedure I gave you should have worked with older versions of the Hotsync Manager. However the LD comes with Hotsync Manager 6.0.1. Hotsync Manager 6.0 and above has added the concept of System conduits and User conduits. I would assume the system conduit information is stored in a different location than the old user conduits, and thus that is probably what we missed. Poking around in my own registry, it appears that the system conduit information is stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PalmSource\Desktop\HotSync Manager. Therefore, I would suggest, trying again, but this time also delete the entire HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PalmSource tree also. However, since this is the first time that I have suggested this, export the tree before deleting, just in case.
Another approach could be to search your registry for "NPInstal.dll", and then depending on where it is found, we might be able to come up with the correct method to remove the reference.

Just download the latest version of the PalmSource Installer conduit from http://www.palmsource.com/installer/
Go towards the bottom of the screen where it says "Windows users – to get the latest version of the PalmSource Installer Conduit, click here." and click on the link and then simply run the setup.
This will fix the problem and allow you to keep the installer conduit, instead of messing with having to run RegEdit, and reinstalling your Palm Desktop/Hotsync.
This was a very simple fix for me. It only took me a few hours to find this tip by searching PalmSource website.
I hope this helps you. If it does, send me a simple email with a "Thanks for the tip on fixing my NPInstal.dll missing error" to rprokic@pobox.com

I had the same issue after exchanging my TX for a new one (had dead pixels) and when I went to HS it BLUE SCREEN of Death'd me.
SO uninstall everything and delete Palm/Palmone folder and reinstall.
Resulted in a working setup but with the deaded :
"The notifier file 'c:\progra~1\palmone\packag~1\NPinstal.dll' was not found. "
Error.
Installing the PalmSource Installer Conduit fixed the error message.
