I live in NYC, and in my opinion, verizon has the best coverage. I never drop a call or have trouble making calls. But as we know, verizon is a little slow when it comes to putting out phones. So my question is, is there a verizon phone, thats not listed on their site, that i can purchase (but has to have bluetooth), that i can use with my LifeDrive? I already have the treo 600, and see no need in having it if i already have a pda. So wuold prefer a regular phone with bluetooth. Are there any phones that i can buy and activate on the verizon network?

What I know:
VerizonWireless currently sells the Motorola V710 and the Motorola E815.
They use to sell the Motorola Timeport 270. Motorola use to sell a Bluetooth option module for this phone. Both of these can sometimes be found on eBay or other sources.I seam to recall that there were one or two other Bluetooth phones that work on VerizonWireless's network.

Are both of these phones compatable with the life drive? anyone currently using one of these phones.

I'm using the e815 and successfully dialing and SMSing via my LifeDrive. It's a bit complicated--you have to find the older Bluetooth drivers for the Motorola TP280 and TP280i (you can find them here on the Palm site (http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/phonelink_ir.html) and load them, then use one of them to set up the phone.
As for using the e815 for data, I haven't tried, but a number of folks on the HowardForums Verizon/Motorola discussion (http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=294) seem to have figured out how to do it. Your mileage may vary, but good luck. {Prof. Jonathan}

ProfJonathan - I also have a Moto e815, but as of yet am unable to pair it with my LifeDrive. I tried downloading the drivers for the 280/280i, but have been unsuccesful in my attempts. Is there anything specific you might be able to tell me regarding the process?
TIA,
Adam

Trust me, I realize I'm barking up the wrong tree here, but for what it's worth (that means FWIW, for those of you raised on internet contractions...) - BUMP.

you might want to try updating the drivers for your bluetooth card. my moto v600 would not pair with my laptop until i updated the drivers on my laptop.

you can technically use any phone you want with verison so long as it is unlocked. as to going about unlocking a phone depends on what brand/model you want to use. i use a moto V600 which i have successfully paired, dialed with, and data transferred. i have also paired and data transferred with a moto v180. i think his service was verison, but dont quote me on that. my carrier is through cingular btw.

Minor clarification: You should be able to use any phone, which is unlocked, CDMA and Dual band on VerizonWireless. I have seen posts in the past from others saying that they bought an unlocked Treo and were unable to get it to work on VerizonWireless. That was because that had bought an unlocked GSM Treo, not a CDMA Treo.

Cingular uses a GSM network.

When you say unlocked, what does that mean specifically. And how would i go about unlocking it.
