I have to say its probably the saddest :( , someone, if you've read, that you would nevr have thought have dying, has died, but I wont give away who. So, anyone else reading?
(Sorry for the semi(ish) off-topic)

They've got to bring [the character who dies] back to life! The way he/she died was so.. weak; I expected him/her to go down with a bang.

Yes, I know, I never thought him/her would've died that way. I never liked Snape...So all thats left for book 7 is for Harry to find the rest of the Horcuxes and finish off Vodermort, right? I wonder how much Hermione, Ginny, and Ron will be involved in book 7?
Good for you Sharky, I never could've read that in a day. Last night was my 6th night staying up to midnight(I stayed up to 1 the night before) reading, plus, I started 2-3 days before I decided to stay up all night. It took me 7-8 days then.

I just wonder if Snape is really bad/evil or if this will turn out as a big sheme they are running to tear down "You know who".
I think if the someone who died would come back, then it would be kind of awkward. On the one hand it would be great, and would go with the good-Snape conspiracy, on the other hand it would be a bit like in LordOfTheRings where one Char "died" in the eyes of the reader and came back as well.
And who is the chosen one, the one from the prophecy? Neville? Maybe, or is it all a mixup.
Hope the last book comes out rather sooner that later, since IŽd like to get the answers:)

I thought it was excellent! Yes it was sadder than the others, but it was intense and true to form. I too could not believe he/she died (although I had a few ideas about it about 2/3rd of the way through the book). I had a much better idea of who the half blood prince was at the same point in the book. In terms of Snape, that's still an open question as far as I'm concerned; ESPECIALLY if the person who died comes back. I can't wait to see the next movie (Goblet of Fire). The person who plays Snape is excellent and can be seen in a great role Galaxy Quest.

Right.....

Are your reading it.... thats what your said ... and then you said this is possibly the saddest....

YOU ALMOST HAD ME

Ive just got to the cave and do not want to know what happens next. I have not read any more of this post but rather think you were going to go on to tell us all what happens.... CRUEL

By the way, this is a great book, really engrossing... and that's coming from a 28 year old criminal barrister....

When I have finished it, I will come back to this post.... and if people are giving away the ending THERE WILL BE TROUBLE... If not I will apologise

No, no one gave away the ending.
The part your at: a little scary and gross, and its where it turns bad for we-know-who(not He-who-mustnt-be-named, we-know-who, as srcguy might not know who yet.) AND DONT GIVE OUT THE ENDING. ANYONE! There are usually quite a few guests on these boards...

The first well-known character to die, right?(well, other than Sirius) Yes, the Half-Blood Prince. Before the 16th, a lot of people were wondering who the 1/2 Blood Prince was, I wonder if anyone guessed right. It might be akward if that person came back, yes, but I dont know how there could be a book 7, in my opinion. Whens GoF being released? 2006?? 2007??? I cant wait that long for such movies! Yes, the actor of Snape does do well, doesnt he?

Yeah, I know its off-topic, but theres no off-topic topic. Just for stuff not related to electronics at all, so, I put it in General, although it doesnt really fit in...

This book was too good to put down. I still think prisoner of azkaban is the best book out of all the HP's, and chamber of secret's is the book i liked the least, but they are all really good.

Thats a reason I stayed up to midnight reading for 3 hours(I read some of Pheonix in 5 hours), they're just too good to put down. Just as good as the HALO series books: The Fall of Reach, The Flood and First Strike(I dont want to go OffTopic, but has anyone read these?)

;) Are you getting close to the end?

(And if it was an eBook, we could read it on our Palms :))

The person who plays Snape is excellent and can be seen in a great role Galaxy Quest.

That is the wonderful Alan Rickman. One of my favorite movies in which he stars is the quirky "Truly, Madly, Deeply." He also plays deliciously evil villains (Die Hard, most noteably).

Well, it sort of is an eBook (unofficially) and I am reading it on my Palm. I'm over 2/3 of the way through.

Very good so far.

Too bad there wasn't an official eBook version. But it would be DRMed up the wazoo and priced more than the paper version, so no one would buy it anyway.

Rlauzon: can you tell me where I can get the eBook of HP/HBP? I've already read the book (I bought the hardback) and have read the whole thing, but it sure would be nice to have it on my Zodiac too. Or, let me know if I should PM you. :)

Back to the book: I'm arguing with myself over whether or not the person in question near the end of the book will become an Obi-wan Kenobi sort of thing...hmmm...

T-Man

Yes, I'd like the eBook too. @xM: I dont know... Only JKR knows :)

It was posted on Usenet within 12 hours after the book was released. More proof-read versions have been posted lately.

You should be able to access them via Google Groups. alt.binaries.e-book is the newsgroup.

I'm not sure i would reread the first two because I've read each twice and seen the movies plenty, but starting with Azkaban, i could do them all over again.

Yeah, I've seen the movies too, but dont think I ever read the first two. I might've gotten half way in Chamber of Secrets...

I decided to reread them all before HBP came out. I started a couple of months ago. I didn't read straight through - I read other books in between as well as going to work, etc - but I finished them all before reading HBP. I like them all as a set. The character development is great, but each can stand on it's own, if you don't mind missing a couple of references here and there.

I guess if I HAD to pick favorites I'd say:

Half Blood Prince
Prisoner Of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire - would be 2nd if it had Quidditch

T-Man
08-04-2005, 12:49 PM
Maybe some day I'll get to reread all of them...

I think the reason I liekd Goblet of Fire so much is becuase I'm really competitive, and it brought that out in the tournament.

T-Man
08-05-2005, 10:17 AM
Yeah....(I'm trying to remember the exact stoyline of GoF....)The main part of the story was the Qudditch tournament, right?

NO! That's the point GoF didn't have any quidditch. All Quidditch was cancelled for the Tri-Wizard Cup tournament.

T-Man
08-05-2005, 06:05 PM
Oh, ok(LOL :D)Tri-wizard, yes, that makes more sense. The Goblet of Fire was part of the tournament, I remember now :)

I thought it was cool in GoF that they showed you wizards from other places rather than just those at Hogwarts.
