does anyone know if there is a site that has photos to tell you how to dsassemble a t615? i seem to remember seeing a japanese site link on cliesource last year, but couldnt find it in any of the past messages.
i just want to first of all clear up all the dust gathered within (that gets under my g2 screen protector). also i have a daydream about doctoring it so my stylus wont keep falling out.
any help would be much appreciated.

If your talking about the site that had all the disassembled pictures of the T series, when the site was still out there I snaked the entire web site and put all the pictures in a PDF. Let me know if this is what you were talking about and I'll email it to ya.

You really don't need pics, taking the back off a T-series is easy, albeit a bit delicate. Just keep track of the tiny screws and be very gentle with the various 'snap-in' fittings. Getting the jog-wheel cover back in place is a bit annoying, but taking it easy usually works well.
I stumbled onto a way to keep my stylus in last time I took my T665 apart...
The stylus is held by a tiny 'finger' of plastic at the bottom of the silo. The finger has a small projection that pokes into the silo and supposedly presses into the groove at the head of the styli. The 'finger' is very tiny and thin, and wears/breaks easily.
After several repair attempts, I lost mine :-( But... I put a pea-sized ball of foam (like upholstery foam) 'under' the silo so some of it is pressed through the little opening the finger used to be in.
This pressure seems to be holding my stylus quite nicely now.

I don't know if the web address is the same but they are the same pictures. Let me know if you still want them and I'll send it anyways. I figured since I'll probably always keep my T615 even if I demote it to a Remote Control for my living room someday I may need to go inside.

I have recently taken apart and put back together (with new parts) my old T615C, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. Also, getthehightech has some good info one the connectors used in the Clie, it is for the T415, but the connector types are the same. If I had read that first, I would not have broken one of tabs on mine. Luckily I was still able to salvage it.

I can help with the stylus fix. All you need to do is put some pressure on the middle of the stylus as if you were trying to bend it. Not much is needed, not enough to be noticeable. Be careful to not exert pressure on either of the plastic end pieces. They will break, but the metal shaft is pretty tough.

Oh my god what a bad idea...
I decided to disassemble my Clie T615 to repair some bumps it had from when it fall to ground... it worked perfectly after that, but ...
Well... disassembling it wasnt a hard thing to do...
but you must be carefull because...
when i flip out the metalic case of the clie... the jog dial was attached to the back plate...
and i didnt notice that..
so i pull it...
and then a "snap" sound and the circuit connection with te board was cutted off... (I cut it accidentally) and now... after assemble it together again... it works perfect except of the jog shuttle that is permanently unoperative. My only hope is to weld it again (with a micro solder i think)
So , be careful when disassembling the unit...
A Map of parts will be very usefull .
So if anyone has it , will he/she may mail to me please...

Sony does not make all the parts included in a Clie. They most likely buy the LCD parts from Sharp. It has nothing to do with being a refurb.

I have the "Service Manual" from Sony...
It's a PDF file, with the unit (PEG-T615C, T615C/G, T625C) in explosion view, showing where the screws are, each of the part number used in the product...etc.
Let me know if someone is interested.

ajedi72:
Actually, I found this thread for the exact same reason. I finally lost my stylus, and just got a new one. The new one is half pen/half stylus. The pen part is the toothed part that sticks out of the top of the silo. Unfortunately it does not screw off, but is a piece of white plastic that pulls off to reveal the pen. I didn't really realize this of course.... :(
I decided that I was going to try "the tape trick" to see if I could get it to stay in the silo better. Oh, it stayed alright...but the pen cap pulled off! Now my stylus is stuck in there and my only hope is to unscrew my 615 to loosen it up.
I am needlessly terrified.
Any advice anyone?
If you can't spell disassemble, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to disassemble the Clie considering your lack of knowledge.

That's special.
I was brave this afternoon and took the case apart with the cliebattery.com instructions. Very nerve racking though. It was like playing "Operation" -- I kept waiting for the patient's nose to light up and tell me the game was over.
A potentially serious issue avoided. Fortunately everything worked out and my Clie is now all better. :D

Found this thread 30 minutes too late......just spent 2 hours taking my 615 apart to decide whether or not to buy the glasstop from gethightech.com. Only thing is.....I can't figure out how to get the glasstop off the screen. I was thinking about just going for it and prying, ripping, smashing....grrrrr! I digress...does anyone know how to get this glasstop off the correct way...or a place where I can buy the whole screen? I considered sending it to sony....till they told me almost 200 dollars for the repair. You can buy a refurbished one from sony for 150 bucks.....go figure. I really want my 615 back in operational condition..... someone please help!!! Oh and if it's not too late can I get a copy of that service manual sent to wildturkey2.geo@yahoo.com? Thanx in advance.

I don't need the 'disassembly' PDF, as I saw that website a long time ago. I'm hoping there's some info in the 'Service Manual' one that I haven't seen, though.
The email is a disposable one that I use when I have to post out in the open. I know it's gonna get hammered within the next few months. Sigh.
