Dead UX-50 - Any Suggestions

Hi Folks, long time reader, first time post. My Clie started freezing on me last night. Has anyone seen this problem or can anyone suggest anything for the following:

Stylus is no longer recognised
Can get things happening via the buttons and keyboard but they eventually stop working (screen freezes)
Have tried soft reset & hard reset - same
Have removed battery several times (awkward to do) - same
Several times the stylus has started to be recognised again (like normal) but 5 mins later, it's gone again.

It's all very sad.... :(

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that. How long you have your UX for? It might just be that the screen digitizer is worn out, if the device is not new. If not under warrenty, Sony will make you pay 140 or more for its repair.

It's over a year old but it was also one of the Factory Re-sealed units (that is, refurbished). How does the digitizer get worn out?

I'm lucky enough to have recently purchased a mint condition, barely used second unit (supposedly as a long term spare unit), so I've got it "in-service" already. I will get this faulty one repaired though (within reason).

Anybody out there that can expand on JAmerican's theory?

My confidence in the UX-50 is now dinted with my unit only lasting 10 months (purchased as a "factory recertified" unit last October).

All advise is greatly appreciated. Tks.
