I'm planning a long plane trip with a small child this fall. I was thinking that I could have her view videos on my Tungsten E with an MM Player set up, but for one drawback--battery life.

I see that there is an airplane charger for the E, but I haven't flown in a long time--are there really places to plug in a charging device in the cheap coach seats????

If that won't work, are there any external batteries that might do the trick?

Also, maybe it's asking for the moon but I don't want the solution to exceed the cost of a good portable DVD player! Still, I'd much rather carry just my tiny little palm and some compact head phones instead of a portable DVD player and its heavy battery.

Not much chance in Economy seats for the possibility of charging, but you could check with the airline. An alternative is an emergency charger, which uses a battery. On example is this one from Proporta (http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=635&t_mode=des)

Get a usb battery pack from txmicro.com and trickle charge through the usb sync cable. It works, it's small, and it's cheap.
