Hello everyone.

I thought I would share this in case it hasn't been stated before.

Today I wrote an email to CompUSA sales and asked if I could purchase their PDA replacement plan for the CLIE NX70V I purchased on eBay. Here's the link I used: http://www.compusa.com/contact/contact.asp?type=sales_inquiry

Much to my surprise, I got a phone call from their Corporate Sales office and he said "Sure, we do that all the time. Some stores will not sell you their plan, but we will". :)

So I bought the 2 year plan for $99 and it WILL cover my CLIE even if I were to drop it and break the screen or anything else that would prevent it from working. My warranty is in their system under my telephone number, so all I would have to do is bring in the damaged CLIE with the serial numer I gave him and they would replace it.

The guy explained that the unit had to be new (not used or a refurb) and all I had to do was give him my serial number and fax him a copy of the eBay auction I won.

For $50 per year, seems like cheap insurance to me.

Hope this helps someone else.

Added the link to the sales department above.

Hmmm...I wonder if I could get that same plan for my new Clie I bought on Amazon.com last month?

Have you READ the warranty yet or are you going by what you were told on the phone.

When i bought my Clie at CompUSA I got the same warranty. I happened to be buying another item at another CompUSA shortly afterwards and when I was offered the warranty, I echoed what the other guy told my (drop, break, etc.) He said no and to read my terms.

I did, ended up going back where I bought it, found the salesman (happened to be the manager) he said that yes, the WRITTEN warranty did not cover breakage but that his store did. I made him write it out on the reciept.

Very, Very Very few warranty cover what they deem "abuse or misuse) or should I say "dropping and kids".

My compusa warranty covers dropping and accidents, it has it written in there.
